Unfortunately, this is often just a band-aid for disgruntled tension. At the end of the day, no matter where you work or how valuable you may be, if your workplace is like this one, you are living an effed up life 24/7. You are in the wrong situation.

File your papers and get the hell out. Life is too short not to be valued at work and to be spending so much time in a barely tolerable situation.

Re: In The Wide Open Web Everyone’s Watching

nice post and observations. I believe if things could be stabilized a little, you would start to see money from smaller investors who want need to get better gains than they can from traditional markets.

We need to see innovation applied to the financing arm of tech which is just as creative as the tedch itself. Publix is privately held and the largest employer in the state of Florida. They have made the Great Place to Work Institute list 11 straight years.

Companies that have done well in the past and are well managed will continue to do well, including investing for the future now while they can get bargains.

This is actually happening in pockets all over the retail industry. The spending is just selective. VC won't die either, but it may spend money smarter for a time.

-- Michael VanDervort
http://bestpracticeexchange.blogspot.com

Re: The customers are gone, now what? In the end, it is cheaper labor since the benefit costs are not carried any longer, and you can end the 1099 relationship very easily.

It is not necessarily a better business model, but it is a money saver. I have laid off hundreds of people in my HR career. It always sucks. The good news, most people are very resilient and wind up better off in the long run.

It is more difficult to believe that story in today's economic morasse.

Robert, I wish your colleagues the best of luck!

-- Michael VanDervort

http://bestpracticeexchange.blogspot.com
http://humanracehorses.blogspot.com
