I find Disqus to be very frustrating and frankly am less likely to comment on a site with it. What is frustrating about it: the login. If I click the Disqus button to log in, it will ask me for my Disqus credentials and then not log me in. Then I fill the Name, Email, Website info below the comments section and push the Post as Guest button & then Disqus wakes up and Says "Would you like to post as Ms. Jen?" Yes, Disqus, I would.

It happens on every site that I have tried to comment on that uses Disqus. Bad user experience. gah.

I prefer the native comment systems that come with the blog software. Jacobite. ;o)

Hi Ian,

This made me laugh, both for the truth of it and for a conversation I had recently where I was telling a friend to not underestimate the Finns. The friend was expressing frustration with doing business with some Finnish folk, and I delved deep into history to explain why I thought they were kick ass, even if super quiet about it.

Now you have armed me with more examples beyond the Swedish & Russian historical examples I knew from before. ;o)

Do me a favor when you see the NAM N86 in the wild, please look under the battery and tell me if it is "Made in Finland" or "Made in China", as I really want to know which gyre the container ship got lost in: the North Atlantic Gyre (aka Bermuda Triangle) or the Eastern Pacific Gyre.

I am hoping that the camera focused branch will not come to an end, but with the Xseries and Eseries going off to grow happily out into Music & Biz, that the Nseries or like will be able to develop fully as a camera based creation oriented devices. *crossing fingers*

Johnny - It is the Zeiss lens on the N97 that gives the photos more 'real estate'. The lens is more wide angle than the iPhone.

I like that the fixed focus of video is set to about a meter away compared to infinity on the Nokia N97. There should at least be an option where to set this focus if they are not going to give us autofocus.

I take a lot of photos, so the Nokia N86 is tempting. Still not sure if I want to give up Qwerty though.

Great example of how Nokia lost a customer. Taking so damn long to release their NAM models, I thought they weren't gonna do that anymore.

Jen, your excitement about the N86 is making me excited to try it out. I was a die hard true to heard N82 loyalist for a long time until the E71 and it's 3g internet speeds tempted me to split the time between both phones.

But I need a phone that can hang in low light conditions like pubs/bars and eateries, etc. Hoping the N86 can out perform maybe N97, and maybe even come close to the quality of the N82.

I used the Nokia N86 for 30 hours in late June and the N97 for 3 weeks in July. My verdict on the N86 is that I *love* the N86, not just for the juicy camera, but for the build quality and the S60 v3.2 (it rocks, no bugs, no crashes).

My verdict on the N97 was that after I spent 5 days getting the danged thing set up to my liking and over a week later when I had to hard reset it to get it to even turn on, I made sure all my settings were out, and packed it back in the box days before it was due back at WOMWorld. Days. No Qwerty is worth the purgatory I experienced, I seriously researched Samsung & Sony while the N97 was in my possession.

It would be lovely to have a device the size of the N97 Mini with Qwerty, a real 8mp (with 2mb files & not the level of over-compression on the N86 now), a physical zoom (like Samsung & a few Sonys), as well as a manual focus using the touchscreen, I don't think Nokia is going to release such a lovely package any time soon. I am a bit sick of being teased by what could be or what might be 2 years from now or not.

The N86 shines in video. In fact, as of late June, the software for video was much more advanced and ready for release than the digital still was. As I said in my review, I am would like more clarity in from the N86 photos / digital stills. This may be a result of the compression used to make the photos be about 1mb when they should be near 2mb or it might be in need of a bit of software tweaking.

All that said, rather than save $500 for an N86, I spent $500 on getting my painting studio set up in July. If Nokia had released the N86 a month earlier in the US, I would have it rather than a bunch of paint & canvas... ;o)

I own a Nokia N95-1.
I am currently using a trial Nokia N97.
I will be buying, as soon as it comes out, the Nokia N86 NAM.

I have had the N97 trial unit about 2 weeks now and it has a number of horizontal scratches from the lens cover. I have been trying to figure out how to clean under the lens cover to get out whatever is doing the scratching.

@msjen: Thanks for the info. "Suspicious" probably wasn't the best word. I found it amazing (and perhaps risky and perhaps not 100% credible) that they could figure out toxicity levels to the point where you should only eat only certain amounts of fish per month or week. Also thanks for the pointer to the Surfriders foundation. On the other pointer, I think you mean Heal the Bay. Let me know if this is wrong.

Hi Jeff,

It is not suspicious, it is ocean currents. The DDT plume arches away from the Palos Verdes pennisula and into the South Bay/Santa Monica Bay. The DDT manufacturer was in Torrance and they dumped on the Santa Monica Bay side, not the Long Beach/San Pedro side.

Thus if you want to fish, do so south of Seal Beach, and preferably south of Newport Beach.

Also, the US military dumped nuclear waste in regular metal oil barrels in the 1950s into the Santa Monica Bay.

Basically, do NOT eat any fish caught fresh from Point Dume (Malibu) south to Point Hume (San Pedro).

If this upsets you and the LA Asian community, then get involved with the Save the Bay Foundation and Surfriders Foundation, as they are both on the forefront of the lead to clean up the Santa Monica Bay.

No - not a hangover, but only about 4 hours sleep... :-) You should have seen Dan!

We did take a test image (http://tr.im/gByJ) but as noted elsewhere it's not great... possibly the failings of a prototype phone (which this was). However, the sample images we've seen which Nokia say were captured with the phone are seriously wow... Don't think 8MP matters, but the flash, shutter, wide angle and operating speed all make it an excellent imaging handset. Sadly these factors will be overlooked by many.
