I've seen several people state that they'd be happy with some middle ground, a reduced feature set or a reduced set of expectations. What may not be accounted for is a) Apple sets its own expectations around user experience and performance. If the animation isn't "buttery smooth," then it won't do. That's not for us to decide, they control the experience. b) Any sacrifice in feature set requires that Apple then track which features are available on which device. Sounds simple, but it gets complex quickly. It also causes in-house developers extra pain when building new features - pain in testing, pain scope... it's just a bad idea. They're doing it with other items, sure, but compounding an already bad idea doesn't make it good over time.

Re: FCC filings reveal Apple’s mysterious ‘Network Adapter’ that runs iOS

Maybe related to the upcoming XR release?

Re: How would Andrew Yang give Americans $1,000 per month? We have to think differently moving forward, and understand that what we used to think of as a meritocracy has evolved into job loss - not because of a lack of skilled people to fill the jobs, but because we've become really good at automation. Do we want to see the world become like Star Trek or Mad Max? I'd prefer the former... and I challenge everyone here to figure out how to make that happen.

Re: How Developer Mike Hoque Wants to Change Downtown Dallas

Awesome. I'm by no means new to technology or even VR for that matter, but I know one thing... every novice consumer I've given the Go to has been floored by the tech - and more importantly, many have purchased it. If you're a gamer and have the budget, go full on with 6dof, full body tracking, etc. For the average consumer, and there are millions of them, this device has the potential to change behaviors. Casual VR games, social VR, 360° videos... they're all great experiences on the Go and they're new to it's target audience. Even the Hulu and Netflix experiences are unlike anything most consumers have ever experienced.

Re: DFW Expects to Become a Thriving Tech Hub in 10 Years

Good to know! It will have its own services, the circulator will get to services not provided (should only be a few, if any). Why the massive increase? What policies and actions are going to prevent that from becoming an even bigger problem for society in the future?

Re: Is Anyone Else a Little Creeped Out By the Idea of a Homeless Concentration Camp?

Services will be onsite. I've said that again and again. There are administration buildings to work with - the circulator is for services not available onsite - but that should be few and far between. Besides, why can't we have Parkland build out the medical facilities onsite? Why do we have to do it?

The circulator bus was originally proposed by Cindy from MDHA as a way to get people to Parkland/MetroCare and downtown. This is no different and serves no different a function. The final destination is the only difference.

I know (and have the support of) people doing urban farms already. It's not my area of expertise (I have no problem admitting that), but it is theirs, and it's working for them. I trust that. Once we dig in on the needs, we'll have better data. Look, not knowing doesn't bother me. Not acting because it'll be hard does. That's how we got here.

Read the document. Jobs are in the farming, food services, warehousing, and onsite services (like super basic coding if it works). Jobs and responsibility are essential to this. Many won't participate, and that's OK. They don't today... but at least here they'll be safe.

If this works as planned, of course you'll be able to leave, but why would you? Services, food, shelter, clothing, showers, jobs.

No one will be forced to relocate or stay. That's where the comparison should end to a concentration camp. That comparison is intended expressly to cause fear and panic. If those using the words read the plan, they couldn't be used with integrity.

Re: Is Anyone Else a Little Creeped Out By the Idea of a Homeless Concentration Camp?

Great. We're getting somewhere. There are 14 administrative buildings to rehab, medical services to build, and warehouses to retrofit with vertical farms.

Consider that your data is based on a static number of people when the reality is that it's a relatively constant number, but they individuals come and go. It's more like a river than a pond.

There's a circulator bus to provide service ( with a per ride cost to operate ) to Parkland, etc.

Housing is not the main expense. By any stretch.

So help... temper my unrealistic with realistic by contributing data and facts... let's figure out how to do this and not simp,y poke hole in it.

Re: Is Anyone Else a Little Creeped Out By the Idea of a Homeless Concentration Camp?

Still building the concept... still ironing out the details. That's why the uncovered tents are an option. Alcohol is allowed, and there will only be enforcement with public drug use. As with anything, being a public nuisance is where the line is drawn. It should be noted that @PeterSimek wrote this post without having access to the document he was very eager to skewer. There are some great questions in the post, so thank you for those. I've updated the plan to address many of them.

First, no one is being forced to do anything. Doors are open 24/7, come and go as you please. No one is being moved, or coerced to change anything. I believe sincerely (as I've actually spoken with many of the service providers in the space, and been at every Tent City related City Hall meeting) that people will go where they feel comfortable and taken care of. Tent City grew as rapidly as it did because there was an early promise of housing (something we'd provide onsite), free food, and clothing (which members can trade in for new, reducing the need to hoard clothes - reduces their footprint too).

A free circulator service takes people between Dignity Field, Parkland, and MetroCare every few hours. Public transportation is an issue when services are separated and "jobs" require travel. Dignity Field provides paid jobs onsite and builds a rental and job history for those reentering main stream. No one is required to do either. Nothing is forced.

Please read the document before making comparisons to concentration camps a other ridiculousness. Doing so says you haven't given comment readers the respect of at least being educated on the plan. http://dignityfield.com/
