Question - I moved over one system from a failing proxmox node, however its storage wasn't to scale, its a 250GB image size, but only 120ish was supposed to be in use which is what it seemed was implied, however I had to do a bit of work to clean that back up to the space used only, any way to avoid that? I have another image backed up elsewhere, but I'd love to get this moved over - just sadly don't see a way as the person who set this up long-ago over-sold their storage space, and while it uses nowhere near 400GB in two volumes, I can't move it since it creates a 400GB drive right off the bat, and to get in to trim it, would require a boot-able system.

Thoughts?

This saved my bacon! I similarly had some server notifications that I kept stored for review, but then life got busy (apparently having a kid does that!) and needed a cleanup! Xdotool method working great for me, leaving it on in the background at 100 per page, it's knocking it down!

Thanks gents, some good options indeed, so far from 3 people (you both are included in that count) have given a good pile of suggestions, who knows - i may have me a book to read soon :)
