I would argue that the modular aspect isn't necessarily a strength. The roll-you-own builds can save bandwidth, etc, but I think long-term maintainability of the site suffers, especially if another developer (or less experienced person) has to pick up the project.

For example, another developer who sees moo.js being loaded may incorrectly assume that certain functionality is present. This isn't an earth shattering problem, but I think as developers we should do our best to prevent these situations (especially when doing work for a client).

Good point - that's how I have it set up on my sites - probably should have mentioned that.

Some sites automatically guess that it should be at /sitemap.xml, so I'd recommend doing this.

You can also have this appear at the normal URL with a simple rewrite:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule sitemap.xml sitemap.php [L]
