I think you can guess where I stand on this. I believe that all data in journals, including (especially?) supplementary material. The ACS has serious issues with their permissions. There is a treasure trove of information out there and it would be freely minable (structures, IC50's, etc)

I have the same concerns as Risely, but in the end the benefits and ability to add karma, etc won out. Tighter integration into WP, and most importantly trackbacks would be most useful, but I figured those would happen over time. Reasons I don't use intense debate (which looks prettier). It's less stable, and the community around Disqus seems more mature

At my first company, a startup, we had two distinct groups, the scientific programmers (my group) which interfaced very closely with the engineering group, which then put those into production (which is kinda what Accelrys did, but much more tightly coupled). The challenge doesn't go away though if the two sides at least don't have some overlap.
