I'm awfully shy as well, and I thought it would be awkward to take a lesson online using my camera and microphone only. I was a bit apprehensive too about the tutors but I gotta say, it all goes away once you try it for the first time! Edufire tutors are great! (at least the ones I had) I had lots of fun when I took the introductory lessons, cuz they're really patient lol I was quite surprised at how patient they were at my slow pace heh.
They won't force you to speak Japanese if you really can't, that's why you're there to learn and they're also there to help you out as much as they can.
Edufire is like a magical place really, the tutors and the students are great and if you can stick to a schedule, you'll find yourself looking forward to every lesson.

Ditto, I love edufire and I actually took some (free) lessons on basic Japanese and it was pretty cool. However, I can't be bothered to deal with online money transactions and the time difference didn't help either...

I don't know if there's a limit to the number of winners [Edit yep, only five can win, hope I still have a chance tho], but I've always been part of tofugu contests, and even though I never win, I'll still feel compelled to participate heh.

Next week, I'm graduating from high school (yipee!, finally) and I'll be starting my first year at university on east Asian studies and also it'll be my first year learning Japanese (at university as well)

This is a big step for me since I've been looking forward to this for as long as I can remember...I mean, I don't know how I started loving Japanese media and blogs like Tofugu, but I know for sure that I won't be giving it up that easily. I will be using a lot of the tools you've discussed on your site (which have helped me more than any online tutor I've ever had) and hopefully make my way into the Japanese language, the proper way, once and for all!

Well, there it is. It's not as witty or needy as those who have already won, but I hope that the fact that I'm gonna be studying the language at university helps me get this sexy prize lol.

Either way, I'll still be reading Tofugu, and I'll still participate in every contest until koichi morphs into Godzilla one day and is unable to use his fingers to type on his mac...

From what I can see, (reading the comments) the movie must be good. Also, ANYTHING is better than Dragonball Evolution, and I mean ANYTHING, even a wacky Chinese version.

Wowowow...! it's like you've been saving up all of this awesomeness for quite some time now!!
I always wanted to know about Godzilla's daily musings...destroying cities I suppose? I always saw him as a cat lover and now I get the chance to confirm that :D
And a podcast!!! Why am I the only one who is thrilled about this?? I can't believe I'm getting a mix of two of the things I love the most.

first off Speedracer was baller, Emile Hirsch is a fantastic actor. The world of dragonball is such an unrealistic world and it looks like the director is trying to put it in his own realistic image.. whatever give it a chance, from chatwin's previous roles he doesn't really seem fit for Goku butttt he could pull it off.... look at a guy (his name is too holy to speak) who went from starring in a chick flick (10 things i hate about you) to playing the most baddass villian of all time (Dark Knight)
