I send out the emails as soon I as get the information. Generally, on these special codes for Monday/Wednesday, the email gets delivered before Noon eastern.

Its just a zip code error, since AF and Highland share the same zip code.

I remember when I called them about the problems with the box, it took awhile for them to figure out what box I was talking about because I told them it was in American Fork on State Street, but their system said it was in Highland on Grassland Drive. :)

It is at the Walmart in American Fork (I think the Redbox site calls it Highland), although the second kiosk is working fine, as it is brand new.

You can still get the first one to work, but entering promo codes and/or your email address is generally a futile endeavor.

I am pretty sure it didn't say "but the code is invalid", and if it did, that is new language.

Generally when it takes a long time to process, it is because the Redbox is having trouble communicating with the internet. This causes all codes to fail, but it usually says something like "Sorry for the inconvenience, we cannot process the promo code at this time."

@Myron: It was "voted off the island", so to speak.

Codes are removed when they are reported failing over a certain threshold. It did seem to be a valid code, but I couldn't even figure out where and under what circumstances it was valid.

Apparently, most people who tried it got an "invalid code" message, or at least reported it that way.

Its a bit more complicated than it seems. Yes, I could easily remove the expired codes, but they serve as a reference for many to see what the past codes have been.

Also, I have found it difficult to decide what an "expired" code actually is. Monday codes definitely fit the category, but other more "regular" codes sometimes start working again after awhile, so I don't want to list them as expired and prevent them from showing.

I am working on taking the expired codes off of the list, and then allowing you to click to another page to see a more comprehensive list that shows expired and other removed codes. This is probably a more ideal way to handle it than the current setup.

My understanding is that Redbox stopped carrying the unrated versions of movies to be more socially responsible, since the Redbox is accessible by a young audience (even though they would be illegally renting if under 18).

So, while I cannot be 100% sure on this, that is why I heard they stopped carrying the unrated versions.

Currently, by clicking on the green arrow it will copy the code into the reporting box above, thus eliminating the need to type in the code manually and reducing typos.

I realize this is not intuitive from a user interface standpoint, and am working on better ways to indicate this ability. Also, after seeing the arrow there, I also thought of the idea using it for code trending, and will likely do so in the future.

What I am trying to do is cram a lot of useful features into a limited space, which is not an easy task. Any suggestions will be welcomed.

This website is certainly not "illegal", as you say. But thanks for warning everyone...

Do I think I won't get caught? This site has been around for nearly 3 years and Redbox CEO (Gregg Kaplan - you don't even know his name?) is aware of it, as well as many other members of the Redbox executive team. This site it no way suggests "cheating the system" or any such nonsense.

I agree 100% that Redbox is a great service. I personally use it often and recommend it to others. Obviously this site is not affiliated with Redbox, and it is spelled out many times all over the site. There is certainly no "misleading" going on here.

Most likely, you don't really work for Redbox, and are just a troublemaker. You are not the first, and won't be the last. In meantime, I and the many thousands of users of this site will continue to enjoy Redbox and the great service they provide.

@Ginger: I don't doubt what you are saying at all, I hope I didn't come off that way.

One thing you can do to see if the Redbox in your area is communicating properly with the "mothership" is to use the kiosk locator on the Redbox website...

If you find your kiosk and it says "Currently No Online Rental" then you know it is not communicating properly and codes will not work.

While there are certainly times when codes in general don't work at a particular kiosk due to communication problems, it is not because the code is invalid.

@G B: While it is possible that this offer is not legit, it actually looks fairly safe. I think the guy who is selling these kiosks actually owns the "Evobox" brand and is selling the kiosks, brand, and everything.

He is probably selling because Redbox is way too competitive in this market (Salt Lake City), and he has had no luck on getting good placements.

A some other comments have mentioned, I think if you could get the right location this would be profitable (like a university).
