This will be my live stream page this spring...will have a map on the right, YouTube Live above and this nice chat here. Hopefully it will be fun! Just not sure about the chat aspect right now because YouTube has their own system, but I'd love to keep it on my site.

haha, well all motion was done in post...slider is super hard with storms and moments where you only have 5-10 minutes to shoot. That tornado at the end...I had to run up a 25-ft hill just to get a view and all-told I was only there for 6 minutes.

I did use a slider once last year in my film The Chase, which you can probably tell...but most of the time, I'm looking for foregrounds that are flat and open, so sliders don't make much sense. And doing a pan is hard too because other chasers, powerlines, etc.

I do try to keep it subtle enough that it doesn't look too fake and that it does feel natural.

I drove the entire time other than maybe one day where a friend drove on the way out, and another one drove for four hours on the long drive from MN to Phoenix.

Driving isn't a big deal to me anymore, it's kinda nice...plus audio books, podcasts, etc. make it tolerable.

I live in Phoenix, the 18 days were not consecutive, also I was away from home for more like 25 days because of the days taken driving to and from the plains. I also went from the southern tip of Texas all the way to Minnesota in a day, and then from Minnesota back to Phoenix two days later :)

Bought my 4Runner new just over two years ago, has 95k miles on it now!

Most of the lightning was end of day, so you can get about 3-4 second exposures at that time with a normal F/8 aperture. I don't use ND filters at all, usually have to setup my camera in seconds and don't have time for a lot of extra stuff!

So there is a brief one at 4:17, 4:27, and then the last three clips are all tornadoes. The second to last one is a giant wedge tornado about a mile wide. Not sure how much more obvious you can get with those :)
