Glad you enjoyed it. I just wanted to say my peace on the whole "FF is dead" thing. It's kind of funny that the only time I seem to post to my blog anymore is when I'm really excited or pretty pissed off. HAH! I'd rather just spend time on FriendFeed where the conversation is.

Re: The intent/purpose problem (& an appeal to @scobleizer)

Lindsay, the quality of your thought and the skill with which you have expression it is stunning. I wish there was one thing you said I could disagree with in your piece, because it might look like I'm fawning, but there isn't and I'll have to live with that risk.

The best universal prose are those which are unapologetically specific. Concrete. In a time and place. In that sense this is perhaps the best commentary / call to action on "community" I have read.

Whatever may be dead, blogging is not one of them.

Re: The Microsoft Squeeze

Actually, ChromeBook has quite a ring to it.

Re: The Sad Cafe

How did I miss this until now? (Scripting News)

It works. Mobile Safari and Safari have the same javascript engine, so a bookmarklet that works in one will work in another. The problem with pre-3.0 iPhone OS was getting the javascript into the bookmarks without copy and paste (and not wanting to type out the code manually on any keyboard, much less the iphone's). So I "installed" the bookmarklet by getting the bookmarklet script from Safari on my mac, and then emailing it to myself, then copy and pasted that into the bookmark address in mobile safari. To ease installation you could have a page that has the script directly on it, so then one could go there in mobile safari and copy it direct from there.
That said, twitter.com on mobile safari redirects to a mobile safari optimized twitter, which has no place for the translatorize panel. To test the bookmarklet there's a button at the bottom of the page to switch to standard view. You might want to reconsider the implementation for mobile safari...

Re: Why no Twitter clients with an API? If you get a second, could you try out one of my translation bookmarklets: http://translatorize.com/ - they work on Safari, so here's hoping they work on Safari mobile.
