I started reading you fairly recently. I'm a software developer, but also spend a fair amount of time blogging and tweeting about all things related to Edmonton. I try to do what I can to make it a more open city (and we had some success recently with the release of the GTFS data for Edmonton Transit). Enjoying your blog so far, thanks!

Re: New Twitter Code For Retweet

What's wrong with RT? I see no benefits to this, aside from being one character shorter which isn't going to make a big difference. I admit that it isn't immediately clear what "RT" means, but it's certainly better than some odd character. If I just saw this character, I'd assume either the user entered something invalid or Twitter has a bug (I'm on XP and just see a bar).

Re: Ping.fm / Blog / Where's My Ping.fm?!

Keep up the great work guys, you have a fantastic service!

Re: Making Twitter Smarter

So kind of like what Twitter Search already does with usernames (anywhere in the tweet) and hashtags. Why Twitter and Twitter Search aren't more in-line with one another continues to boggle my mind.

Re: Twitter and the Federal Election

Twitter is changing the game - last night was just a preview. CBC gets some kudos for at least acknowledging Twitter last night, but they have a lot of work to do for the next election. Enjoyed the discussions with everyone!

Re: Don't Shoot The Messenger

I agree with most of what you've said in this post, but I have to disagree with this: "If they shouted fire, it was in a private room not a theater." Right. Do you or they honestly believe for one second that it would remain private? Would love to see some discussion of technology issues here in Canada, without taking a wait-and-see-what-the-Americans-do approach. At least Harper and Layton are now on Twitter: http://blog.mastermaq.ca/2008/09/08/canadian-po...

Re: Why I’m not in love with the new FriendFeed beta

I think it is all a matter of taste around aesthetics and layout as you say. I prefer the look of the beta, so it's been easy for me to make the switch! I never used custom FriendFeed tabs either, so I don't miss anything there.

Re: Getting cranky on Mashable

Congrats!

Re: Reaching milestones are a good boost

Congrats!

Re: Strands.com to Relaunch as a Lifestreaming Service

Being the next Twitter is so old skool. I am going to write about FriendFeed this week (for the first time) and I think I'll probably just skip the overview and refer readers here. Thanks!

Re: New release for the FriendFeed Comments WordPress plugin - remembering your details

Got it to work finally. Had to do a string replace in friendfeed-comments.php, to change "<?=" to "<?php echo", without the quotes obviously. Maybe this is because I am on Windows? Anyway, did that, deleted plugin data, and re-entered the settings and now it works.

Re: New release for the FriendFeed Comments WordPress plugin - remembering your details

I simply can't get this to work! Whenever I enabled the plugin, and go into the settings, it looks like this:

http://blog.mastermaq.ca/images/ffcomments1.gif

Then I click save, and the page goes blank, like this:

http://blog.mastermaq.ca/images/ffcomments2.gif

Any ideas?

Re: How to Find Local Twitter Users From Your City

Searching inside Twitter itself works well. Just type your city in the search box at the top and hit enter! My wish for that feature is to sort the results by last update date...I don't really want to see people who have not updated in over a year.
