We had a fantastic guest post a few years ago on how contango affects the oil ETFs that ties into the above: http://www.marketfolly.com/...

Have also noticed a few major hedge funds had/have put positions on the various VIX ETFs since they're such flawed vehicles.

Re: Is This the Top?

Loved the disclaimer at the bottom. Reminded me of my satirical post on bottom calling back in March 2009: http://www.marketfolly.com/...

Re: Nehal Chopra Long Actavis & Charter Communications: Invest For Kids Chicago

Very good point that they won't tell you when they exit. But at the same time you can still track it via 13F filings, or if the position is big enough, via 13G/D's filed with the SEC. Obviously that's on a delayed basis so there's problems there as well, but better than never knowing what they did with the stake at all.

Also, it reinforces a more important reminder: always do your own work and use hf ideas as a starting point; don't just blindly follow.

Re: Parallels Between Investors and a Renowned Sushi Chef: Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Definitely. I think he even had a quote saying "it's not about the money." Thought about contrasting that to investing where it technically is about the money, but in the form of IRR or return. But in the end they both come back to being the best and constantly refining process in order to achieve better results.

Re: Greenlight Capital's Q1 Letter: Sees Tech Bubble Forming

Sorry for any trouble, it's loading fine on our end.
