(About a third raise their hands) OK -- Why?

Payne: It's interchangeable.

Beck: But wait, wait. Why not identify yourself as Americans?

Fritsch: Well, people can look at you and tell you're black. You can't escape that.

Beck: Yeah, but I don't identify myself as white, or a white American.

Then he goes on to say...

Beck: Because one of the problems that I have -- and I have to tell you, as a white guy, as a white guy, I'm just being real honest with you, as a white guy, I think white people are uncomfortable sometimes saying, 'You know what, Martin Luther King' -- and then quoting Martin Luther King...

http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/glenn-b...

...same ol' thing. And...

...the American the African American experience. Is. Overwhelming. Just overwhelming and I think if if the roles were reversed. And I saw the first white guy to be president even if I disagreed with him- unless I thought he was the anti-Christ, I might go you know what? I want the guy. I want the guy to win, let's just break that barrier...

...and none of them seemed to catch on to just how stupid, and stupidly conscending, he was being, and none of them reacted to the "anti-Christ" crack.

Re: President Obama’s Foreign Trip

"He's a Singaporean sympathizer!!!"

Re: Saturday Open Thread

That obviously is an attempt at deflection from Palin, but having seen Nicole Wallace on cable news several times...I'll bet she really did say that shit:).

Oh, yeah- it's also obvious that the unnamed adviser is Wallace herself.

Re: Saturday Open Thread

Well, if you can stomach watching it, or even clicking a Fox News link, here's the link to the whole thing, broken up into three parts. I've watched the first one, and there's actually a little back-and-forth. Unfortunately, so far, the conversation seems to be a run-through of the usual tired memes ("Why do you call yourselves African Americans?").

Re: Saturday Open Thread

Well, whether or not he ultimately came off looking like an idiot depends on what he went on to say after the boos.

Re: Saturday Open Thread

Well, in the snippet of video at the link, no one lays into Beck. I'm almost always suspicious of anyone who urges us to "shift the focus", rather than widening it. Besides, when I mentioned their common goal, I wasn't implying that their ultimate goal is to kill black people. To the extent they want to see that happen, it's just a means to an end, that end being the re-establishment of Jim Crow or something like it on a national scale. No, they don't want us to go away- that wouldn't be much fun for them.

Re: Right Wing Extremists Should Be Barred From The Military

Matthew Hale.

And, all of them don't want to establish a separate white state.

None of them have reacted with a reign of terror...yet.

As far as putting on a shirt and tie, David Duke was the first to do that, and he is certainly part of the "racialist" movement, just like Taylor. Yeah, I know he's on the "we still need to hate Jews" side of the rift in that movement, but he's still part of it. Taylor, et al may not want to get their own hands dirty with openly espousing violence, but they certainly sympathize with those who do.

The point is, it doesn't matter if they happen to be Klansmen, "scientific racists", or extreme "libertarians", the effect of them seeing their goals come to fruition will have the same basic effect on black people.

Re: Thursday Open Thread

hey where's the link LRW?

Re: Right Wing Extremists Should Be Barred From The Military

Well, for one thing, I think there's a huge amount of overlap in their agendas. Secondly, if violence is violence regardless, why is it "important" to point out that one group isn't "racialist"? It felt kind of silly to even type that, because the only real difference is that one group admits it is "racialist", and doesn't employ quite as much code and dishonest rhetoric...code and rhetoric that's designed to achieve the exact same goals as those of the admitted "racialists".

Re: Right Wing Extremists Should Be Barred From The Military

Are you saying they're only capable of violence, or fomenting violence, if they're part of the really, really, (really) explicitly "racialist" right?
