Onya Dunc! Not bored at all! I suppose I could compile it myself from archives, but any chance of a final monthly traffic graph, to give us a visual idea?

My May numbers: 10,999,603 page views on 266,272 absolute uniques. Though weekly is a more accurate metric for me - averaging 2.3M on 85k uniques.

I disagree with Mark on several points. Duncan is right about CGT deferment - that seems to me to be a no-brainer move that won't cost the government anything, and VCs definitely take notice of tax avoidance as Dunc says. It encourages continued investment in tech, not just fly-by-night lurks.

I don't think it's true to say that there's not a viable VC culture. The key is that there's not a viable angel culture. And who are the most regular angels? Friends and family, sure, but also previously successful entrepreneurs. It's a virtuous circle that the government could play a role in speeding up.

It does grate me, however, when people do get a teensy bit whiny about the handouts given to the likes of the pine plantation industry and demand the same thing. Incentives to invest are one thing, government grants at $900 a pop are something else. I'd prefer more of the former.

I am surprised that FanFooty does not appear on this list, despite being on the source wiki listing. Its current Alexa ranking is 57,448. Compete seems to not know we exist because we have very little US traffic, maybe that's the problem. I wouldn't take any notice of Compete for sites that don't aim at the US market.

Even so, I would have thought a site that does more than 2 million page impressions per week with around 100K uniques would rate a mention.

Let me put it this way:
Let's say you have some open source project. You worked a lot getting it to be world renowned.
And you allow users to showcase implementations of your project on YOUR site, but under one decent condition : GPL, because your project is GPL and you love to help the community.

How would you then feel if people were complaining they cannot submit their non-GPL projects? Off of which they maybe even make money?
Wouldn't that cross with your vision, an open source platform?

How would you feel when people are asking you to promote their commercial products based on something you gave for free and even invested in???

Is it that hard to understand?
