The sending of THAT video out to the entire world would be, in a word, STOOOOPID! It illustrates that our New President, with all the huge issues pressing on the world and the US, thinks the best use of his time, after admitting in previous footage that while he didn't have the full story he was willing to characterize decisions made (by the police) as "STUPIDITY". They then see our fearless leader, the LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD, decide the best use of his time is to sit and have a few beers and attempt to ?mediate/ ?remedy/ ?capitalize upon a small incident of heated tempers with racial allegations. THIS is his best decision on how to use his time?
So.. Mr. BLITZER, you breathlessly celebrate the release of this footage to the free world, where they can see that Mr. Obama has a problem sticking his nose/foot/mouth into something resembling a bar argument or shoving match between an experienced police officer (and reportedly a racial relations specialist) and a tired world traveler well educated college professor, who together at best had a few too many heated words trying to sort things out. His house had been burgled once, a well meaning neighbor called 911, they responded, and he ended up being arrested NOT for mistaken identity or burglary or anything beyond losing his temper and disorderly conduct. We all lose tempers now and then. BUT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES NEEDS TO WORK ON THE BIG ISSUES. Not look like some JESSE JACKSON or AL SHARPTON impersonator seeing race issues everywhere and grabbing the microphone to demand attention.

FIX MY 401K Mr. President. Or my Health care coverage. Or my military health care and retirement benefits. Or the racial tensions in the Middle East. Or the Wall Street criminal embezzlements. Fix the Auto industry. Do something BIG, Mr. President. THIS problem was one that should be handled at lowest appropriate level, like a POLICE CAPTAIN or COMMANDER, and the private citizen that was involved.

I had not heard about this on Glenn's show, but had a conversation last night at home about this exact issue... there has been easily several hundred hours of "news" coverage of this "event" where a very influential and controversial music celebrity died of what is apparently DRUG ABUSE/ ADDICTION RELATED CAUSES.

We hear that Congress took a moment of silence to recognize the passing of Mr. Jackson. WTF? Get back to work, Senator! Go check with your office Congresswoman!!!
Where is the daily/weekly moment of silent recognition for our military members who have died in direct service to our country, to the cause of peace and in efforts to make one corner or another of the world a bit safer?

Where is the public recognition of these heroic deaths.. NOT related to celebrity excess, Drug abuse/addiction, and the media circus that has apparently become what is most important in the lives of average American citizens?

EVERY DAMN ONE OF THOSE SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN SHOULD HAVE TO SIT DOWN AND WATCH, phones and pagers switched off, no twittering, FROM START TO FINISH, the video TAKING CHANCE.

The celebrity culture is a shameful embarrassment in this country. This is the silliness where SEAN PENN feels he can and should go to IRaq to try and reason with SADDAM HUSSEIN, and Barely a peep is heard from the mainstream media to even question his actions. Michael Jackson was a gifted musician and a weird and terribly twisted and troubled person, who endangered children, abused drugs, and generally contributed little positive to our culture or country of late.

Jimmy Fallon continues to disappoint with his late night gig. He continues with bad timing, awkward presentation, and stilted transitions between bits. He still seems like a last minute replacement from the writing staff, sent out to cover a show because the host didn't show up in time.

MY SUGGESTION: IMMEDIATELY REPLACE Mr. FALLON with the much superior, always insightful MR. DENNIS MILLER. He always hits his mark, he always knows whats going on, he has educated insightful opinions and analysis of events. GO DENNIS GO.

Shameful disparity. We see moaning and complaining about overseas body counts and ACLU activists demanding to see casualty body/casket returns at DOVER AFB.

BUT when an apparent WINGNUT Islamic Jihadist ( I use this to differentiate from NON violent normal religious Muslims) terrorist, either freelance and crazy or as part of still potential larger group of evil wingnuts, the White House, the mainstream media are nearly silent.

I get tons of coverage and interviews of the slain physician's family/office staff/patients/NOW leadership/sheriff/ WHITE House coverage.. Did Private Long have family, in town? Was he married? What about the survivor soldier PVT Eziquala (Sp?) ? Why is this so shamefully NOT covered? It is expected and understood by those in uniform that they risk their lives, especially in combat assignments. Not likely, nor expected, and CERTAINLY NOT ROUTINE AND NOT NEWSWORTHY to have a recruitment station and active duty military member slain by a WINGNUT within context of apparent PURELY RACIALLY/RELIGIOUSLY MOTIVATED HATE CRIME.

thanks Mr. President. No need to speak up to protect or reach out to your uniformed soldiers. And really shameful behavior on part of the White House staff... surely someone there is expected to assist the Chief Executive, perhaps draft a statement for him to review and approve? Big building, Big staff, HUGE OVERSIGHT. But hey.. we are able to deploy advance teams, and then stage a media event in THE MIDDLE EAST with the President giving a long speech. How about working in a line about how we in America are smart enough to tell the difference between an extremist abusing the cover of religion to commit heinous acts, and the actual religious teachings of mainstream Islamic culture?

Failure to live up to the sacred promise made to servicement and women, yesterday, today... and... unlikely, for tomorrow.
What happened to your nation will stand by you, if injured in the service of your country? IT is already a challenge to get INTO VA system without persistence and a great deal of documentation and evidence to prove you are not lying and the illness/injury is service related. Already, in stead of being accepted in cases of unclear etiology, the basic premise for VA care is if in doubt, reject the claim. And now..they think the answer is to move the financial burden to the already troubled health insurance industry?
How about this... take $200 BILLION back from the Crooks and Idiots at AIG, and give it to the VA. just a thought. All it would do there is repair failing facilities, provide for services and treatment, and TAKE CARE OF VETERANS. But I guess we will instead waffle and cave in, and take more time and money to ensure that investment bankers and brokers get their MILLION DOLLAR BONUS... while the PFC that lost an arm in Afghanistan waits 4 weeks to see a Physical therapist?

i saw the ads when they hit the TV and the magazines and the Sunday paper inserts.
I knew it was cheap trash "collectible" nonsense that would NEVER reach any value near
what they were selling for, and I am also an adult that knows there is always added sting with
"shipping and handling charges." They actually seemed to reveal it was "enhanced" (maybe altered is a better word) actual US coinage. So, it was, just like the related candidacy, a lot of hype and enthusiasm, relabeling and repackaging of old existing (CLINTON ERA) Merchandise... What a terrific metaphor. Seems to good to be true, seems a bit glossy and plastic... seems expensive, but hey, if they sell it on TV/ the internet it HAS to be good, right?

you get what you (over) paid for. And now we see the $800 BILLION remedy stew prepared in a rush in the Democratic soup kitchen. (how's THAT for a metaphor?)

from what I have learned (admittedly from MSMedia) and heard, and what I myself know about tax rules/laws, he is NOT a terrific choice.

The expired visa (by 90 days) for one of his household staff is, to me, a non issue. Paperwork moves slowly, renewal notices dont arrive, stuff happens. I would expect a senior level government official to know better, but heck. Immigration, Customs, Border Protection is a busy agency.

HOWEVER, the tax issue, for a guy that has apparently spent his entire adult working live in the world of banking, finance, taxes is a serious breech of ethics, responsibility, and TAX LAW. What I really dont like is he "forgot" to pay his self employment taxes for several years, despite reported multiple written reminders from the IMF to their independent contractor "employees" such as Mr. Geithner. So, he has someone determine he has in fact NOT paid back taxes as required for 2004. He pays up. He forgets, or his inept accountant "forgets," and he doesn't do the proper and common sense thing, and check the tax records for those other years right before that in 2002-2003. and now, OOPS, he is nominated for a cabinet post, and we find out he "forgot" to pay taxes on two other years income, but he has now suddenly paid up.
THIS guy is nominated to be the NATION's accountant. The NATION's TAX ACCOUNTANT. And he either cannot hire competent staff to do his own taxes, or he is too stupid to do his own taxes properly. EITHER WAY, his judgement to select staff seems badly flawed, and or his attention to little details, LIKE TAX PAYMENTS AND PERSONAL INCOME AND CHECKING AGAIN AFTER FINDING ONE ERROR,

Poor ability to supervise staff
Poor ability to select staff (accountant)
poor understanding of a basic tenet of American life : TAXES!
very poor attention to detail.

POOR CHOICE FOR SECRETARY OF TREASURY.

as you are no doubt aware, Our Next President is able to reason with insane leaders in such misunderstood garden spots of democracy as Iran, Syria, N. Korea. He will no doubt, along with Mr VP Biden and now Madam Secretary Clinton, be able to calm the troubled waters of the world. We will no longer need to mount a defense of our borders and Homeland. Imagine reading as I did this weekend, in an AP story about this terrorist attack on India, where it was stated that the UNITED STATES is viewed by the world as a leader in ability to secure and protect the Homeland. Obviously, the speaker was confused, because Barack and Hilliary and Joe (and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and Rosie O Donnell and Sean Penn and Alex Baldwin.....) have repeatedly told us we are despised and disrespected on the world stage. And I guess, despite 7 years actual experience since 2001, the number of successful attempts to perpetrate another Terror attack on US soil has been ZERO is completely unrelated to Homeland Defense, Defense Department, and Police efforts to protect us. ATTENTION WalMart Shopping Obamaniacs: there have been interdicted attempts to attack the US... we have stopped them.

But as I said at the onset...soon... we will no longer have enemies, and all will be peace and change and hope and stuff.

you are naive and rather noxious. If you really think that either Mssrs. Kerry or Gore would have done better in the sequence of crises that we as a nation dealt with, you have really just not been paying attention. But then again, I would bet you believe that GW Bush signed the NAFTA legislation (1994/Clinton, "his greatest accomplishment"). If Kerry was in office in 2001, I am sure by 2003 we would have had 2-3 more attacks on our home soil and probably our allies as well, Taliban would still be running Afghanistan, and Iraq would have either attacked Israel or Kuwait, or both, and/or would have been trading WMD attacks with IRAN. But hey, the Surge didn't work, things aren't improving in Iraq, BUSH and the Republicans cause cancer AND hurricanes, and we really should all be taking world leadership advice from Hollywood celebrities and bigoted preachers.
Thank God that Obama will now sweep into town, with a new bipartisan administration reaching across that aisle, and together with Nancy and Harry, will be able to fix the world's complex problems. Remember, the only people with lesser approval ratings than the Bush administration has ben CONGRESS ( a democratically led legislature, who actually passed the federal budgets, etc)

DEVELOPING STORY -- Intimidation tactics, missing ballots and faulty machinery are plaguing voters descending on polling stations to choose between Barack Obama and John McCain.

In Philadelphia, FOX News' Rick Leventhal received a report from Republican poll watcher Chris Hill that two Black Panthers had stationed themselves at the door to a polling station and were intimidating voters. One held a night stick, Hill said.

Hill told FOX News that he went to talk to the men and they told him white power didn't rule there.

The man reportedly carrying a night stick was escorted away from the polling station by police, and FOX News found another Black Panther outside the station who said he was a certified observer. Police asked him and the FOX News crew to leave the polling station.
