The problem of false rape accusations is massive. Not only is a dreadful crime against the falsely accused, it is a crime against real rape victims whose cases compete with fake cases like this.

In the UK the number of false rape accusations exploded after 1987 when the government removed anonymity for rape accused.

Rape accusations became a weapon for the insane, jealous ex girlfriends, divorcing women etc.

Malicious accusers are in a sense mentally and socially raping the men they falsely accuse.

This woman is mentally ill, but she is the exception. Most false accusations are malicious. Its a serious crime and should be punished as such.

I am pro-EU and I believe in the EU project, but I disagree with HTS:

This is only partly true.

There was and is a structural problem only now addressed by the common fiscal controls.

The common currency was the enabler that allowed the fringe basket cases to load up on debt because the traditional brake on over-borrowing (raising interests rates and currency devaluation) - could not be applied to southern European borrowers as they were daisy chained to the rest of Eurozone.

And they are still discussing yesterdays crisis. The new Eurozone crisis threatens to make Greece look paltry...

This looks decidedly dodgy to me. Not sure how the court found them guilty considering the evidence. I suspect this was more a political trial than a criminal one. The Royal Yacht is a symbol of the colonial oppressor and then the rowdy Viking marauders rape the locals too!

If they really are guilty - and we have to trust the court on this - then why only 18 months in prison for rape? Seems way too lenient.

I think there is clear evidence that Eastern European gangs are responsible for the surge in burglaries in Denmark and elsewhere in Europe, but that in no way means that the most of the Romanians/Lithuanians/Latvians/Poles etc are somehow linked with crime. The vast majority of Eastern Europeans in Denmark are employed and law abiding. These gangs launch raids - driving in for a few days them scampering back to their homelands with loot.

I pity the decent immigrants who have their reputation sullied by these criminals.

This is a tough one. I sympathise with the bar owner's plight. Too many non-gays and its no longer a gay bar, just a gay owned bar for sympathetic straights.

I suppose the question is this: In Denmark, do gays have the right (legal or moral) to associate exclusively with other gays in privately owned bars or clubs?

In the UK gays bars and clubs can be very fierce with straights. Some clubs have a "no heterosexual touching" policy. The unwritten rule seems to be "Welcome, but do not advertise your straightness".

Look and learn folks. There are no real national corporations. Their loyalties are to shareholders only. Symantec was happy to reverse engineer Stuxnet, arguably contrary to US national interests, declaring as above that their loyalty is to shareholders, yet when they were hacked they ran to the FBI for help and resources.

I am truly delighted to see this.

Several years ago CoRD magazine ran a campaign to buy air conditioners at Narodni Front because newborns were dying in the 40+ degree heat.

It was then that Swiss social activist Jacqueline Haener told me about the corruption and bullying in maternity hospitals in Serbia. If you were unable to pay you bribes, were brutalized, Newborns were confiscated, meals were "forgotten", but most terrifying, medical treatment were withheld - like epidurals for first time mothers - considered a right in countries like Ireland.

As the son of an anaesthetist who spent the last 15 years of her career working in a maternity hospital, I could barely comprehend the cruelty of it.

I could not think of a more terrible ordeal than to be subjected to that neglect and mistreatment at you most vulnerable, experiencing what should be one of the most beautiful moments of your life.

Jacqueline and I made started the process of founding a charity to do just what Majkah Raborst is doing. We never completed the project - ironically her own pregnancy got in the way - but I am delighted to see someone did.

All I can say is bravo to those brave women! It is about time that grass roots organisers took on corruption in Serbia, because top down effort are too slow and bedevilled by vested (corrupt) interests.

I for one will be looking to see how we foreigners in Serbia can be help them.
