They essentially gave us the same workaround.

I reviewed the code and it is a pretty simple check. I'm not sure there will be any issues with upgrades in the future. I personally cannot think of one.

Paul Liebrand

Re: Xbox One’s Next Wave of Features

This would be solved by having a start up app. You could make "TV" your startup app -- first thing that runs when you turn it on.

Re: SSRS and Permissions granted to user are insufficient for performing this operation.

Glad I could help!

Re: SharePoint 2013 – Get the most out of SharePoint dialog explained

In reviewing the way the First Run Experience and "Get the most out of SharePoint" dialog works, there is no consideration or checking for Yammer integration. The these components are essentially looking for a few things. Does the user have a profile? If they do, do they have an existing My Site (from a previous upgrade)? Is the FirstRunExperience value less than 15? I do not see any checks for Yammer.

Re: SharePoint and the “Cannot move <filename>: Cannot read from the source file or disk.” error via Windows Explorer View

John, To the best of my knowledge Microsoft has not publicly acknowledge this issue via a KB or TechNet article. If you do not have the 15.0/Common/Portal registry key setup with a PersonalSiteURL defined then Office 2013 will not get any of the published links.

Re: “Set as default My Site”, “SharePoint Sites”, or “My SharePoint Sites” missing in Office 2010 on SharePoint 2007?

Paul,

What exactly is happening? I finally got around to testing it this morning and everything appeared to be functioning the way it should. My machine I am testing on is not a fresh install so it could be that some of the old components (i.e. Office 2010) are "helping" it work.

Explain exactly what is happening to you and I might be able to offer some insight.

Thanks,

Paul

Re: Enhance Complimentary Colors in Photoshop

That is a pretty awesome designer tool. This problem has existed from the very first version and still exists in 2013. To effectively move documents with history, etc. you need to use something like ControlPoint from Axceler.

Re: “Set as default My Site”, “SharePoint Sites”, or “My SharePoint Sites” missing in Office 2010 on SharePoint 2007?

Aaron,
I haven't had a chance to look into this personally. Most of my SharePoint deployments have that modification made because people want to see the PDF icon. I'll see if I can track down a SharePoint environment that does not have it set and verify if that is required. If you have a local SharePoint deployment, it would take you 5 minutes to make the change and then see if it resolves your issue.

Paul Liebrand

Re: “Set as default My Site”, “SharePoint Sites”, or “My SharePoint Sites” missing in Office 2010 on SharePoint 2007?

Unfortunately, I do not know of a way of triggering besides through the registry.
