Its not like I could have conjured her up on my own -she's the spitting image of him! Beyond that I would have to say my graduation from Yale at 35. My husband promised me that if I got in, he'd worry about paying for it, sometimes it has been tough but we have managed to do it. He will always be the biggest wage earner in the family and I don't think I always give him enough credit for handling it so well. "His girls" get to do pretty much whatever we want and not a lot of people can say that.

Re: How are you feeling about the U.S. economic situation?

The bailout has almost nothing to do with covering the bad mortgages the banks made, and a lot of those stupid people were fine till they lost their jobs, or worse were still paying their rents when the banks foreclosed on their landlords properties. The bailout will cover the banks butts for essentially "betting" on how many loans would fail. Some of these banks "bet" 4,5 or more times the entire value of their assets.

Re: How are you feeling about the U.S. economic situation?

Vaguely guilty, no I didn't default on a mortgage or anything but we just moved from the expensive to live Northeast to the slightly less expensive Midwest but got pay raises when we moved. My DD is also going to public school instead of us spending $20K a year for private elementary school and getting just as good an education, in some ways better. So personally, for us the last couple of months have been boom times. Now my retirement account has lost 1/3 of its value so its not like we are living in a bubble but I look at stock depreciation as an opportunity to buy more stock for the same money, I am also looking at moving my money to companies that believe in responsibility whether in their hiring practices or in their management of resources.

Re: Mary Jaksch asks: What’s your best way of coping with stress?

That's one of the hardest parts for me - reminding myself that there are so many worse things and that even though I'm stressed or frustrated or angry or hurting, I am really, truly blessed.

It's so easy to get caught up in your own little problems and forget about the big picture. I work on this everyday but find it very difficult to keep that with me. I have to continually remind myself.

Re: Mary Jaksch asks: What’s your best way of coping with stress?

Wait, You can cope with stress??...

Seriously, I try to find something that will make me laugh my ass off, I have a Robin Williams DVD that is vaguely narcotic-like when it comes to stress. I also try to remind myself that there have been worse things than (fill in stressful situation here) and just get on with my life.

Re: In this very moment, what are you grateful for? It has carried a child, it receives and radiates back the love of a wonderful man. Daily, I push it to extremes of endurance and reward it with little rest and less relaxation. But every morning, stiff and sore, it is right back in there for the fight. I came dangerously close to being wheelchair bound but I am not, I am carrying 60 (80?) pounds more than I need and am committed to losing the weight slowly and carefully as a meditation and reverence on and for my body.

Re: Patti Digh asks: What would you be doing today if you only had 37 days to live?

those letters to your daughter would be so precious to her - and to you. I would also write my daughter a letter every night letting her know how amazing she is and how honored I am to be her mother, as well as all the stuff that a woman needs to hear as they get older. For my husband I would try to encourage him to love again but I know he won't so I would let him know that where ever I am going I'll save a seat on the bus for him.

Re: What expert help or advice would you like?

Thank You. I've collected glass paperweights since I was a kid and still love looking at them. Judging from all the book cartons that still need to be unpacked, I collect books, but not in an kind of organized way. I am just always fascinated by the ideas they contain.

Re: What expert help or advice would you like?

Kristin, I am 10 years in and I still have questions that unfortunately is the nature of the disease. Don't blame yourself, if you start you'll just end up diabetic and crazy! ; )

Find a diabetic counselor, most got into it because they were diagnosed themselves so
they are usually compassionate about the ups and downs of the disease.

Realize that no matter if you eat the same thing at the same time everyday your sugars
are going to fluctuate. Just take in the information with out beating yourself up about it.

Re: What expert help or advice would you like?

Anna, register here, and then start networking. Like the old shampoo ad tell 2 friends
, okay, maybe 5, and tell them to tell 2 friends and so on and so on. before you
know it, you're marketing. Also get anybody you've done this for to write you a
recommendation, make copies and put them where your customer would be,
daycare, gyms, grocery stores. Both cost next to nothing and help build confidence
and a loyal customer book. If you're certified by any national org. look into their
resources too.

Re: What expert help or advice would you like?

Hey !!! This is my ideal job but I suffer from lack of a brilliant marketing strategy. Really any marketing strategy at all.

I would also throw in my talents as a personal chef. A full service personal trainer/ life coach specializing in parenting who can feed you really really yummy healthy food.

The expert I am needing is someone to help me put my plan into action. I have done this kind of thing for so long but never needed to get paid for it. Having a very challenging time with the transition from volunteer to professional.

Re: What expert help or advice would you like?

A life coach would be nice, a parenting expert with a sense of humor would be really good too, a live in physical trainer to roust me out of bed in the morning would be all the psychological therapy I'd ever need. Someone that is a cross between Diogenes and a really good concierge service -So I know I'm getting the truth and the best of what ever I need.

Re: What do you love about men? But the rewards are undying devotion and loyalty, FUN!, morning snuggles, All of it, and more. Good men, emphasis on the good, are more fun and less complicated than most women. I don't mean they are less intelligent but as someone else said they have less of a hidden agenda. They are just happy to love and be loved back.
