I find it really hard to be driven to invest in a network that is entirely owned and operated by an independent party. At least when the tubes are awash with great (unlocked) talent.

It takes a lot of effort to constantly bring in new folks into your network when they don't play the game, too, so keep on keeping on.

I haven't done a good job of taking the time to do this yet, but I try to keep as many of my contacts on LinkedIn, facebook, etc. as possible. Esp. as an intern, I don't know what may happen in a few months, and those contacts could still be very useful
