My favorite piece of wisdom which you've shared before and has become my mantra is "Acquiring things will rarely bring you deep satisfaction. But acquiring experiences will.". So true and I continue to pile up amazing experiences. Thank you and I wish you many more great years ahead.

Re: Consuming, curating, and creating (or, I see what @garrytan @krynsky and @empoprises did there)

Great way to add your thoughts and continue the discussion around this topic John.

Re: Testing the Fitbit Alta HR vs. Samsung Gear Fit2

I can totally sympathize with those feelings. As I mentioned, I went through a few Charge HR's as well and due to the faulty devices was compelled to try the Gear Fit2. However I was seduced back in by the Alta HR and so far I'm pretty happy. We'll see how I feel a year from now.

Re: A Retrospective on the 10th Anniversary of Lifestream Blog

Thanks Trae and your contributions are appreciated :)

Re: Top 5 Smart Journal Apps

I don't recall all the functionality offered by Momento but I would say that you should take a look at the Day One app. That is probably the premier journal app now on iOS and OS X.

Re: Thoughts on Building a Lifetime Personal Data Collection App

Hi Geoffrey! So I don't think there is a single "point" with regards to the need for us to backup and archive our data. While I think everyone should do it, how that data will be accessed and used could be different for everyone. I haven't thought about a ranking of each type of data but backup everything anyways. I think it would be great to create a flexible permissions based model for accessing the data that could define what's accessible based on roles. For example, public, friends, and family would each have varying access levels.

Re: Thoughts on Building a Lifetime Personal Data Collection App

Thanks for being a reader Renaud. I similarly organize my data into a "collection" such as yourself for my local data but trying to find or discover information based on manually navigation a folder structure isn't ideal. My data collection also includes data imports from external apps and services that contain important data that I want incorporated as well such as my location history from Google as an example.

Re: New Site! · Trae Blain

Nice job! I'll try to update this list soon and remove any items that are no longer available. I never meant for this to be comprehensive but highlight just a few of the services or devices out there. It is waterproof and can be used while swimming however it won't track the swimming activity automatically. You may also want to look into the Misfit Shine device which I believe can track swimming.

Re: Sony Expects High-End Compact Camera Sales To Grow

I'm definitely one of the target customers. I owned the first generation RX100 and recently switched to the new Panasonic GM1 which is a mirrorless compact. I had a DSLR but got tired of carrying a large camera and didn't take it out much. Now I often take my compact out. Like they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.

Re: Goodbye Canonical, Hello XPRIZE

Great to learn about your endeavors with the Ubuntu community. The ability to analyze the data in the background and then pro-actively notify users of insights to improve their life with specific behavior changes will be the holy grail but we still have a long way to go. In the meantime presenting data and graphs in a manner that's easy to digest is the best we can currently get and I feel TicTrac does that well. Good luck on your continued work at Zenobase. I look forward to seeing what your service progress.
