Honestly I'm not feeling Sykes enough to watch anything she is in anymore. Personally the whole it's harder to be gay than Black rubbed me the wrong way. When we know that the white led GLBT members are appropriating Jim Crow experiences and saying things like gay is the new Black her commentary just supports this.

@Myrna: Thanks for visiting Social Flow, first of all. I believe 2 unrelated things that happened within the last week are contributing to the flood of friending that's going on.

1. Within the last week, FriendFeed launched the ability to login with your existing Twitter, Facebook, or Gmail ID and Password. (see above). So, if someone is following you on Twitter, and they sign in to FF, they can automatically find their 'Tweetpeeps" who are also on FriendFeed and "friend" them there as well. Hence the onslaught.

2. Towards the end of this week, Twitter decided to start "dropping" @ reply comments, which prompted what I've called the "FriendFeed Revolution"- people getting frustrated and switching to FriendFeed.

Ginger: Great post, first of all! What's disappointing to me is I'm missing conversations. I just posted 2 comments on a post on ff, only to realize after the fact it was 24 hours old, which is now a decade in FriendFeed. What I like about FriendFeed compared to Twitter is the "message board" component - you get quick posts but also interactivity among a diverse group.

Good recap, Rasheen. I agree the dividing line is going to be the all-real-time-all-the-time-feature. My questoin to the fine folks at Google is: If the various feed icons were confusing to the less-techie among us, isn't your feed rolling by like movie credits going to be even more confusing? (Better yet, if you don't know what they are, how'd you get on friend...never mind.)

Matchucation definitely has legs. Why not expand the idea to matching students with unawarded scholarships, grants, or fellowships? Or unfilled spaces in incoming classes? LIke Priceline for college students?

2 Things:

1. I believe it was Thurgood Marshall who said racism is about a "culture" not a "color". We (Black Folks) need to embrace that in order to get past our intraracial prejudices.

2. For what it's worth, my racial makeup is the same as the Obama girls- bi-racial father and black mother. Far as I'm concerned, I'm Black, and call it a day.

PS It was a little painful to see my ex-man Harold Ford Jr. up there since he married someone else, but I'm dealing with it. ;-P

so here's what the difference is according to News & Notes alternate host Tony Cox:

Martin's program, while also featuring an African American host, "is more multicultural," Cox said, "and our show is more Afrocentric and Afro-American-centric. We really focus on the black experience in America and in Africa."
