You can't help it. Whoever thought up the job titles at your work should probably be punched in the face by Batman, though.

Re: I have sewn clothes!

Gingher pinking shears forever. No, really. They last a lifetime...

Also: I am not kidding when I say take a dress or a top that fits you and trace it. I've been doing it for years. Call me, I'll walk you through the general stuff. It's way less intimidating than a pattern when you're getting started, if you ask me.

Re: Why I love what I do (3)

Thank you, that means a lot to me!

Re: In memory of David Tarasovich

That is a wonderful tribute, Mercedes. Seriously, the Establishment doesn't know what the hell to think about her work (in my opinion because they clearly don't have the breadth of knowledge to appreciate her paintings for what they are, and instead mislabel them as some kind of camp or kitsch...), and she's got far too many technical chops to masquerade as an "outsider" artist, so...what then?

Re: http://smartgrrrl.tumblr.com/post/10166623750

Awww! (Disqus, which is used on this site, *is* a commenting service).

Commenting services don't typically have community guidelines which can be violated or -- as happened with MetaFilter -- stomped all over, since they're used across many thousands of different blogs and websites, all of which have their own standards for discourse.

I've been a MetaFilter member since 2004, and it truly is an online *community,* with its own personality and overall, agreed-upon standards for both discussion and moderation. Adams continually uses the "high-level reading skills" of his site's readers to excuse his sloppy arguments. Perhaps he might recognize that entering a community with different norms than his own with the sole purpose of disrupting a conversation already in progress is not only rude, but also counterproductive? Had he engaged in good faith, under his own name, he would have had a very different result at MetaFilter (albeit not the echo chamber he's clearly accustomed to at home).

Re: warm red cabbage slaw

That looks delicious!
