Two games in, sloppy tonite.......

- Jeremiah needs to settle in and settle down. Tends to try to do to much. Love his energy though, just needs to settle down. He HAS to make jumpshots...

- You very well may pencil in wateford for double doubles often. Has a Big Dog flavor to his game..sorry for the Purdue Reference

- Why does Pritchard foul so much?

- Dumes plays on edge a little to much for my taste. He has a lot of talent but just a very edgey player...hard to describe fully.

- Love Mo Creek and Derek Elston, that simple

- VJ has really improved. Needs to become more vocal, we are that vocal leader......I know it is early......

I agree that he has a spot on this team...I am just wondering down the road where he will fit in...the hornsby reference may be where it is...but I just don't see the confidence in Roth that those great shooters have...he seems timid with the ball at times

Yeah, I saw that too. Northwestern is hoping for their first NCAA bid and now their best player is gone. Sucks for them, but it may help us notch a couple more Ws and get into the NIT.

Wow did anyone hear that Coble of NW is done for the season, and may red shirt...he is one of the few kids who has that old school flavor I enjoy watching play..even against IU.

IU drew----Before the signing you could see where this team was headed in comparison to Roth. If you notice at the 2guard position and wings, Crean goes with athletic guys, decent ball handlers, and good shooters. Roth is missing 2/3 of these....helluva shooter but that is about it....

The good news for Roth, it is early in the season, he has a strong work ethic and could carve a spot on this team with his ability to shoot.

mmmm My gut tells me it very well could be IU. I think JK going to Memphis could have factored into. I like the kid, his athletic ability, his versatility, and the fact he is 6'5 today, should end up a few inches taller........

This could cap off a great weekend....Colts win, IU wins, Belichek a moron, and a possible commit.......Come on will...

JK signed with Memphis, because he will be playing with his AAU team from this summer, 3/5 starters from the Magic have signed, and when Tarik Black signs this week that'll be 4. Who wouldn't wan to play with previous teammates where there is already chemistry established. Its the same when Calipari brought in the class from Laurinberg Prep. Memphis Magic won a lot of games over the summer against the same kids they will be playing against in college, its a guaranteed win-win situation for him. About having a better chance to start the Tiger's have the best back-court in the national, everyone will be competing for a starting role.

You are crazy. Sheehey and Kendrick are not even close. You shouldn't accept mediocrity, those banners are getting faded. We need a new one to hand and players like Kendrick and Irving are the ones that help bring titles.

I'm not sure that Memphis is any less crowded at the wing positions either. They've already got two guys that are 4 and 5 stars recruited for 2010 that are the same height as Kendrick.

I'm just surprised that track record seems to matter, unless it doesn't. Pastner may be able to come in and not miss a beat, and if he can, good for him. But wouldn't you wait until the spring signing period to be sure of that he's not just another Mike Davis?

Bryan you raise some good points, the ONLY thing I could come up with is JK probaly would have more of a fight to start at IU than at Memphis....he plays the 2 or 3 and with Creek, Wateford etc I think he felt he might have had more of chance to start at UM....just a small hunch...

JK signing with Memphis could be the door opening for Sheehey to commit to IU. Similar players with great athletic ability.....would be so ok with Will committing to IU.

Matt....that is a helluva point about Tijan. I think it goes beyond him being a fan favorite but Tijan brings in energy and being 8foot tall built like a building helps also.

I wonder if crean can continue going 12-13 deep, but if he gets results like he did last night so be it.....

I agree 100% with your Bawa assessment ......he seems to know how to play big and not leave his feat. Did a solid defensive job while in there....Didn't rebound as much but I think that will come.

I am a little torn on Elston starting cause I like him coming in bringing that fire power off the bench but you won't be able to keep him on the bench if he keeps playing like this....love his quick release on this shot....

My quick observations:

THE FRESHMEN
- Wateford's activity is very very encouraging and is a prototype Crean player...i.e. Victor Oladipo

- Creek seemed very comfortable at all times on the court, gives a high similarity of Etwan Moore, I don't think he will relinquish that starting spot

- Elston "AKA Billy Bad Ass"....did exactly what he did in high school when I saw him vs Deshaun
Thomas...scored inside, outside, rebounds, and knocked people around

-Hulls, did what Hulls does....runs the offense, leadership, and make good decisions

- Bawa is NOT as raw as Tijan, and has some skills to work with. He stayed on his feet often, playing big and not going for shot fakes.

- Bobby C, got into some foul trouble but had some decent defensive minutes.....should bounce back

My other quick notes:
- Tijan will hopefully not hurt someone in practice, his arms are everywhere.

- Please get out of your minds IU recruiting the 'back to the basket' type of post player. That is NOT in Crean's style if you didn't notice tonite.

- Rivers played, well, didn't make the jumpshot very well, but did some good things and some sloppy things

- VJ3 impressed me as he didn't try to press the issue and played a solid game. Didn't try to force too many shots let the game come to him

- Dumes coming off the bench could work, if he accepts that roll. The kid gets after it on D and still has a nice stroke....

- thought I saw Jelan Kendrick in the stands? Confirm?

- We will beat PU and Maryland at home, tough loss against KY I believe.

Smitty I somewhat agree....I don't like the white lycra/spandex shirts under the jerseys with kids who have arms like my grandmother.....EJ went the the T SHIRT under the jersey which I have done personally but at least have A muscle on your arm....geez kids come on....

MMMM I know Howard has decent guards, local kid from Pike, Riley is there, soooo I am going to go with J. Rivers......first regular season game for him, wants to do well, has a chip on his shoulder, will play very well tonite...........

If IU gets a 2010 class of VO, Sheehey, and Selby or Kendrick....it will be one of the most athletic classes IU has ever had.....and I would begin to think about dancing in 2010/11
