This is something everyone should do. I remember the first time I got all three of my reports - two were correct, but the third was a disaster. Any potential creditor who looked at that report would have never loaned me anything because of some mis-information.

I agree. I miss getting to see the other updates besides status. Especially since a lot of people have Twitter updating their FB status, the live feed is nothing but Twitter updates in most cases. Simple profile updates, photo additions, link shares, fan and group adds... all gone. Plus, I had my previous news feed set to show certain people and certain items more than others. That too seems to be missing. :(

Wordpress blogs do make it to the top of search engine results, even the free ones hosted on Wordpress' site. All you have to do is get your company name in the url, and you're set.

Rainbows and also shooting stars. Those seem to be a more rare spotting. I saw one early in the morning before a day I dreaded going into work, and it made the whole day much better.

I photographed a double rainbow a few years ago (http://kikolani.com/a-double-rainbow.html). I always feel like rainbows are a sign that things will be ok, or will get better. Usually, I see them when I'm feeling lost about something, and it makes me realize that everything will work out for the best.

This is an easy, affordable way for anyone to create some offline advertisement. Especially if you, say, have a poetry site and go to poetry readings or groups, you can hand out cards to the other members. Great DIY job!

Another great thing about blogging is the people you connect to. Who knows, maybe a fellow blogger works in your industry and can tip you off to a new job if yours is in danger. Blogging leads to social media leads to great networking opportunities.

I got a refund through Paypal. It was kind of an odd issue, considering the account I was buying from was hacked, so it wasn't really their fault, or Ebay's. I'm just glad I got my refund. :)

The photo is pretty funny... an "Apple" product in a Microsoft box. What would the Mac Guy say about that?

I got a fake Ipod once through ebay because someone had hacked into a reputable seller's account, and was passing the fakes off as originals. The thing was crap. It turned on, but didn't do much else.

These are certainly super awesome tips for blogging success! And you're definitely right about design. You can have amazing content, but if your design sucks, no one will get to it, or may get irritated while trying. Of course, that is what RSS is for! :)

I think the whole point is you should only stumble content that you want to share with others, because you think it would be useful/funny/etc. for them. If you think your content would be good for others to read, why not be the one to submit it. I think author submission is good in the sense that they have control of the keywords, title, description, etc. Another reader might like your article, but not grasp the content the right way and give you wrong, or no, keywords, and so forth.

I do get subscribers. The plugin I use is Subscribe to Comments for Wordpress.

Basically, it adds a Subscriptions link under the Manage tab that shows you the list of email addresses & how many posts they are subscribed to, and then a list of posts and how many people are subscribed to them. Helpful in knowing which articles are popular, and which readers are really interested in your site. \

And a bonus that I just discovered while writing this reply: it has an option to list your subscriber's emails separated by comma, so you can just copy and paste them
for bulk emailing.

Definitely internal linking to older articles will keep people around longer. Plus having the comment subscription option will keep bringing them back when their comments get replies, especially from the blog author. :)

I think you should definitely consider your readers. Keeping in tune with your blog's purpose, theme, etc. will do that, since people subscribe because they like the things you've written thus far. Changing that pattern will ultimately result in a loss of readership.

Falling sick is the worst. I had a migraine last night, which kept me from doing a lot of work that I had been planning on doing for my site. But several of the other things you were doing did have benefits I'm sure, so you can't say they were not an accomplishment. :)
