If a kid wants to go straight out of high school, let him. If he wants to go after 1, 2, or 3 years, let him. A player has every right to try and turn pro as soon as he feels he is ready. If a player is considered a 15-20 pick right out of high school and decides to go to school and develops into a consensus lottery, let him go to the draft. You can't force a kid to play in college when he is clearly ready for the pros.

The reason rules like this work in the NFL and the MLB is because so few prospects are ready out of high school or only one or two years removed from it. Whereas in basketball, there are probably 3-5 prospects every year who are ready out of high school.

If the NBA wants to protect their incoming players then it is on them to provide better counseling to these kids o that they can make a correct decision. It is on them to make the NBDL a more appealing alternative to these kids.

This rule was only ever implemented to protect the NBA and it's players, so it squarely on them to fix it.

Re: Four IU signees in final Scout.com top 100

Glad to see Hulls get some respect from Scout after dropping on the final Rivals rankings.

Re: Hoosiers enter the picture for two junior guards

I agree with you, but it would be silly to not go after the potential #1 player in the class if he's interested, regardless of position.

Re: Marquis Teague looking hard at six schools

That would be one hell of an incoming backcourt with Carlino and Teague if we were to land him.

Re: Ferguson ready to open it back up?

All these rumors posted in these comments are making my head spin.

Re: Good, Bad and Ugly: Northwestern

I think that's just the nature of the position though. Flaws in the PG are going to stand out more so than any other position because he's constantly handling the ball and guarding the guy with the ball the majority of the time.

Personally, I think VJ3 is our best player, but you just can't expect a freshman to come in and play well on a consistent basis.

Re: Tonight is the night IU gets its first conference win

Yea!

Re: Good, Bad and Ugly: Ohio State

Our perimeter defense is just abysmal. Teams are going off on us way too much for it to ever be considered a fluke.

Jones looked very good tonight, and there were plenty of times where I felt he was the best player on the court for either team. Pritchard would be so good if he was just a tad more athletic. He's like Aaron Gray, just not 7'0".

*sigh* We may be able to win this next game at least.

Re: The Morning After: Illinois open thread

They're Illinois fans, who understands anything they do?

Re: Things Could Be Worse, Plaxico Burress And Stephon Marbury Edition

Not to mention the Knicks have set themselves up to get Lebron/Wade or Lebron/Bosh or even Lebron/Wade/Bosh in 2010. Dumes is a pure scorer; he's able to shoot the j and get in the lane. Pritchard looked good, but did miss a few easy looking buckets. Also, we had trouble rebounding which is somewhat concerning.

Re: A sign of the times: season tickets available

God this makes me sick. I'm a current student, and I bought my tickets the day they became available. A kid who was in my seating group last year told me that he wasn't going to be in our group this year, and I assumed he had found another group he would rather sit with. But no, he didn't get tickets. I sat with him all of last year and would have easily said he was one of the most loyal fans I know. Now, I'm not so sure.

This is Indiana. If you won't buy tickets when your team is down, then you're not a fan to me and I rather have the public buy them because at least they'll support the team fully. This is just another reason why our students do NOT deserve a better student section.

Re: Live Bloggin’ Hoosier Hysteria

Seriously though, that was awful. The most exciting part was the woman's volleyball game.

As far as the team goes; I thought Dumes and Jones stood out, Williams looked good, too. Roth's jumper is as advertised, very good looking shot. Jobe is very raw but tries really hard and was diving for loose balls during the scrimmage. Apparently Taber can shoot 3's now. Nobody else really made an impression on me.

It's going to be a long season.

Re: Live Bloggin’ Hoosier Hysteria

Hoosier Hysteria=boring

Re: Who’s your starting five?

oy

Re: http://www.insidethehall.com/2008/10/10/kelvin-sampson-rogue-cell-phone-use-iu-hemorrhaging-money/

In other news, yesterday I had to take a test at Assembly and the team was finishing up practice and I got to watch them for about 10 minutes. In the short time I had to watch I noticed a few things. First, Malik Story, Matt Roth, and Jeremiah Rivers were the only players that didn't get yelled at. Also, apparently Jobe doesn't know how to make a chest pass, but it seemed like he ran the floor pretty well. But then again it was only practice.

Re: Is Bawa Muniru the final piece to the 2009 puzzle?

Ahhhh, Briscoe freshmen

Re: Isiah Thomas back in the cream and crimson

My friend saw Crean, DJ, and Isiah all at the HPER.
