Our in-laws are coming for their biannual three week visit next month. I hope to share your wisdom via my page in the next week or so with a link to this.

Now I could really use some advice on what to do with my own freaky folks who don't seem to have the time of day for my boys. We just moved 500 kms to be closer and their days seem to be filled with golf and superficial socializing. AAAAHH! Many thanks once again,
www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: Do You Hear Your Calling?

Love the analogy to the wake up call. I have been listening intently for my call for just about a year now...since starting my blog, and doing my Style Statement mapping with C&D...I am getting close but not quite there yet. It's hard to hear sometimes with kiddos absorbing my attention and all the stuff life throws at you. Just wanted to let you know I always enjoy your posts Pearl, you have a great writing style and so much to share.

www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: Love: Complicated, or Simple?

So complicated right now...14 years, three kids, job transfers and a house build are leaving little time for nurturing our marriage. Love in general though so simple...the love I hold for my hubbie and family is always there and true despite the daily challenges.
www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: What Will Be Your Indulgence Today?

Leftover breakfast from yesterday's brunch with hot tea in my sweats. I made a big brunch for friends yesterday and today after I get my boys dropped off at ski school I will come home and have some pancakes and back bacon. A treat after the 30 day Body + Soul cleanse I have been doing. I shared the recipe for the best pancakes today...www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: The Best Meal You Ever Ate Was…?

Pizza and Tortilla soup at a little basement restaurant in San Migeul Allende Mexico years ago. It was all stone and candles and there was no english anywhere. We ordered away and had a delightful meal after a long day of walking.

I also have fond memories of a restaurant in Florida called "The Ark" I LOVED that place of ridiculous feasting when I was young and skinny.

www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: Feels Like Home: 3 Questions For Creating An Intentional Living Space

Hi Carrie,
this is lovely...we are building this spring and I have been completely obsessing over every detail of the house
budget restrictions made some of my ideal things not feasable but i am trying to find other ways...drawing, driving around looking at houses, and scouring every home magazine possible

our new home will be a huge investment and some people don't understand my fussiness...but it's our space for a long time and it needs to feel right...or like you said so brilliantly
"fit the shape of our hearts" (or I guess mine as I am the one obsessing!)

Re: What are your can’t-live-without-it beauty products?

I am hooked on the Nutri Min C line from Arbonne. It's all plant based with vitamin C and lots of minerals and anti aging magic stuff! It actually gives you a glow and has been the only thing some of my friends with Rosecea (sp?) could use. I actually became a consultant a year ago because I was so impressed...and I hate selling stuff like that. I give all my commisisons to World Vision so it actually is fun when people love it, tell their friends and order. I also love their skin conditioning oil, it has a fresh Aveda-ish scent and soothes my skin when it's sufferring from the elements. Also love the fresh minty-ness of Burt's Bees tinted Lip Balms. Champagne is pretty and subtle.
www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: What’s your favorite charity or philanthropic cause to support?

World Vision has been a charity we have been committed to for years. Every child we have we sponsor another one, and I always do extra fundraising over the holidays. We also support Bicycles for Humanity, Playground Builders, Cops for Cancer and The Canadian Cancer Society in honour of loved ones we've lost to cancer. This time of year we also do a family basket for a family from the Mt. Currie Band that is living in poverty.

Re: Resilience And Strong Attachments: The Glass Castle, by Jeanette Walls

Both of these books would be wonderful holiday gifts for a friend or family member.

Re: Who are your favorite female entrepreneurs?

Martha Stewart has a pretty amazing story and seems to really love all aspects of her business. Chic stainless steel spray bottles and some great Martha Stewart labels will make these cleaners gift worthy for sure. She goes over and above for every occaission. Everything is thought out and carefully executed. Decorations are kept perfect and pulled out year after year and placed the same. It's really fun to be around them for a celebration.
www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: What are you sensitive to?

Completely agree about the horror movie trailers. I used to be fairly oblivious to this stuff, but increasingly I find myself wondering what kind of people this stuff could possibly appeal to. And in turn what kind of people are making this stuff -- constantly escalating the gore and violence.

Re: What are you sensitive to?

Chemical fragrances and products, diesel fuel, angry epople's energy, clutter and chaos, and disturbing imagry on Tv and especially horror movie previews that are continually shown! I don't think anyone can possibly benefit from the sick story lines that are being marketed to teens now.

On the positive side I am very sensitive to nurturing, warm people, watching kids draw, aromatherapy, holistic healing, and loving words and gestures from my family and friends.
www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: How You Can Write for Magazines – Part One

Great post! That is somethingI have often pondered. Reading over everyone's answer's I was confused about all the enlightenment and Obama references as that's so current and re-read. Sorry, my new answer for now would be...
Oprah, Martha, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angalou, Gabrielle Munter, Georgia O'Keefe...I adore finding treasures at Winners, and I am in love with many of the 60's pottery labels and designers. David Suzuki also is someone I place on a pedestal.
www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com

Re: Who or what is your favorite Icon?

I have always been a huge magazine fan, when I was a tween I loved Vogue. The Polo horse was a biggie for me...I saved big time for my first polo top. I friend also gave me a Polo makeup bag that was large I used as a pencil case and loved it. I wanted to be Paulina Poriskova, or Cindy Crawford...one of the Vogue faves of that time. Now it's home magazines and I actually try to avoid clothing and accessories with big icons for the family.
I also used to be known to kiss my Michael Jackson poster goodnight and covet all things tennis...like Tretorn shoes and Wimbeldon clothing.

Re: What items from your childhood make your heart smile with fond memories?

I loved going to my friend Tammy's house as she had all the Barbie stuff, so awesome. I loved my Pretty in Pink Barbie. I also had a Darcy doll but she was a bit of an Amazon woman and couldn't fit in any normal clothes. I also longed for the Jordache jeans with the horse head! We shopped at Biway and I was lucky if I found some look-a-likes. I did score a pair of pinstripped jeans once though with gold piping down the legs.

Re: What items from your childhood make your heart smile with fond memories?

When I got my first puffy sticker out of a bubble gum machine I was thrilled! I put it on my banana seat and when I was riding my bike it fell off down a sewer grate. I cried and attempted to retrieve it with chewing gum for hours. It was a unicorn. My Mom was a big meanie for not taking me back to Zellers to score another. I was crushed.

Re: What items from your childhood make your heart smile with fond memories?

Fun DIp!
