There was a challenge to throwing up a home made quarter wave antenna and seeing how far you could 'get out' with it.

We'd get so excited sometimes even with a CB radio in the car, when you got 50 miles hilltop to hilltop.

Like you say, it's too easy now, and I fire up the webcam and wave at my Mom the other side of the Atlantic like she's in the next room. Still, there are still boundaries to push, and advancements to be made.

I guess ultimately, we'll be able to have a brain chip implant, so we can think a message to someone. Mind you, that'll be the way for Big Brother to read our minds too. Perish that thought!

Re: A Trip Down Memory Lane

OK,Right now, I am typing this on a Vista Machine. I have one so I can run Adobe apps, such as Dreamweaver, and Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. For most other work, such as browsing, and email etc, I use a Linux machine. I've never gotten into the world of Macs.

Why not? Simply because I've often built my own machines, which have been x86 CPU based, which until recently couldn't run Mac OS of any kind (not to my knowledge). I'm not looking to buy a Mac any time soon, as it would mean a whole new investment in software too. I'm also not keen on the way Apple try to tie into proprietary solutions, much as Microsoft do with their software. I like to 'pick 'n' mix' my hardware and software with what I see fit, and what offers me the best value for money for what I'm trying to achieve

Re: A Trip Down Memory Lane

That first PC I had, came with DOS 3.3.
