Mike, I don't know where you are in PHX, but there are several IMAX screens that aren't "IMAX" screens here in town. TheWife and I saw "Batman Begins" on the IMAX screen at the Deer Valley AMC, for example.

Sorry to see you've backed off the ID beta again. I'm suffering with it a *lot* right now (I'm acting as Jon Fox's import-testing beyatch and suffering for it) but they've gone to a wide-release beta today.

wikipedia is certainly not definitive. The Deer Valley theater is pretty nice, but for your location it'd definitely be the Tempe IMAX.

I wish I actually had any interest in I Am Legend. I just can't see myself going just for the Batman preview. More likely, I'll rent Omega Man opening weekend and marvel over Heston's overacting.

Life on Mars, so I couldn't say for sure whether you'd be able to pick it up and not be lost, but my guess is it'll be clear enough. Cop from modern-day Manchester is (maybe) transported back to the early '70s. Of he's in a coma. Or he's going insane. Or...

On top of being a great, great show, if you watch it now you'll be able to poo-poo David E. Kelley's American version when it finally makes it on the air.

Yah, it's not my favorite literary book, but as a cleanly crafted love story, I can think of few better. Would work perfectly as a movie, though time shifting it so it begins in the present day instead of the late '80s is pretty tough.

There are fewer big, cultural touchstones and sea changes then in the '60s and '70s, other than the Internet which is huge.

Joyent here at work and have been pretty happy. Their prices are decent, though it's a Solaris platform, so you might have a little ramp up time. Pretty decent dashboard (though I do most things at the command line) and it should be able to fully support your platform.

They're virtual servers, but run really fast and stably.

Some Like it Hot. The greatest last line in film history (about which Wilder thought "it'll do for now")
2. Stripes. Most people prefer Caddyshack or Ghost Busters for early-era Bill Murray comedies, but for me it's always been Stripes.
3. Groundhog Day. Just a perfectly structured movie, and about the only one in which Andie McDowell doesn't bug me.

and two bonus flicks..
4. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. NPH, 'nuff said.
5. Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?. Tony Frakin' Randall. In fact, pretty much any Randall movie could make my top ten.

And I didn't even bring up Philadelphia Story or Desk Set (my favorite Hepburn/Tracy flick.) Alright. I'm going to stop now. This could go on for awhile.

Insane trade. Shawn would have to be a clubhouse cancer the likes of which we've never seen before. Giving Nash wedgies, putting itching powder in Amare's jock, punching Raja in the nards. It's a horrible trade.

Though it does almost fix one problem created by a terrible management decision: Marcus Banks is packaged in the deal. Every time I see Marcus Banks, I think what we could have and should have gotten with that pick in the draft: Marcus Williams. Yeah, why wouldn't we want a big, pass-first point guard, molded by Jim Calhoun, in the mode of Nash or Kidd? Let's take a flyer on a known cancer and shooter like Banks instead. That'll work out *great*!

Oh, I also like that Miami might toss in Smush Parker. I mean, he hasn't played in months because of legal problems, but if he comes back I can buy my dog Parker a jersey with her name on it.

Great breakdown from the Basketball Prospectus, including this great bit:
ItÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s true that Marion, for whatever reason, was not happy in Phoenix. Getting to run the floor, fire up threes, and catch alley-oop passes from Nash must really suck, and Marion apparently thinks basketball nirvana is shooting at will for a bad team.

(ItÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s not. I once thought that it was. But then I was on a really horrific intramural team for my fraternity at Mizzou. I donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t think anyone else had hardly ever picked up a basketball. WeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢d lose like 90-35, with me getting 30 of our points by shooting like 12 for 50. It wasnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t as much fun as I thought itÃ¢â‚¬â„¢d be.)
