Or, the more general point being, when published content gets more distributed around the web, it would be good to have backups and a single place where all can be found. Perhaps an aggregator of some sort?

Re: Forrester and the smell of "sponsored conversations"

George, I see you are looking for the thin line, the gray area... Perhaps the question we, as readers, always need to ask ourselves is: to what extent is the reviewer likely being influenced by the free rides and privileges they receive from those who have an interest in the content of the review?

In fact, when we read stuff we try and make an assessment of the bias of the content creator all the time. It's totally natural. Of course transparency helps, but it doesn't necessarily fix the bias.

In my view, the most credible review would be one where such (commercial or political) interests play the smallest role.

If a blogger writes about, say, a product while disclosing that s/he has a ton of stock in the company that markets it, it helps us assess their credibility, but that credibility will still be pretty iffy. No?

I think the whole problematics around bias, transparency and credibility are really interesting, especially since we are all forced to rethink these themes due to the crisis in the traditional news industry and the advance of new forms of journalism. Plus of course the fact that it's the thin lines and gray areas where marketers find new opportunities.

Re: Bad Hair Day #7

'Capturables from Bad Hair Day #7' (http://www.josschuurmans.com/2009/08/capturable...
"(...) It's evidence of his quality as a journalist.

In the podcasts, when introducing notions like "tethering" and "OPML", I kind of missed those explanations or additional context.
