There is a great little book out there called "Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability". The concepts in that book applies to this question, as eloquently put above. Another great title for a book: "Don't Annoy The Hell Out Of Me With Bad Flash Intros". More of a pamphlet, really. :)

Basically, flash intros stand in the way of your visitor's experience. It's one more click the user has to make to get to the core value of your site. Just another reason for someone to say "no".

This is an eye-opener of an article that kicks the brain into motion and the heart beating nervously. But these are good things! Challenging the mind to delve deeper into brainstorming on what will be the new entertainment model, what are the opportunities to be created?! And I think it is important to jump in and not sit off to the side worrying over your ideas. Are they good enough? Do they push the envelope? Ah hell, just jump in with what you got and blaze the trail. BE receptive. BE adaptive.

A very sound request. However, Apple being Apple, expect that you won't be able to hook up anything via USB, nor will it have an expansion slot - which would make sense.

I think Roku has the right idea, however, it is a singular application. Yet another box sitting on top of all my other boxes. And that's all it does.

I've yet to get an AppleTV. I'm still hoping for an all-in-one box that will allow me to access Netflix, Amazon's Unbox, Hulu (all Big Media downloads/streams), while allowing me to do all the things AppleTV does now without having to hack the AppleTV. I would love to be able to rip all my DVDs into one digital library (with a backup, of course), and still have the freedom to download or stream from other media services, other than just iTunes.

But I will most likely buy an AppleTV in the next three months because I'm not seeing anything else on the horizon any time soon... And I love watching me some movies.
