The blur in the photo of the dancers was done part of the same way of the market photo a while back. In the market photo i just opened the shutter for longer than normal (a lot longer because people walking slowing takes a while to get some motion). In this shot I just opened the shutter slightly longer and used flash to make the subjects sharp. With out flash, the subjects would be completely blurry.

Re: Congratulations Ken and Renata!

I want more of my favorite groomsman!

GJ, GJ. That last quote is a butt kicker though - can't expect God to be the same all the time or as He was with someone else - we have to leave room for Him to be unique. Book sounds quality.

Re: Scandalous Grace - A Message from Matthew 20

Crap, religious mindset defines me so well, I think I created it.

Interesting re: expecting grace even when it seems too late. I wonder where and when I think it is too late. I give up on grace so quickly, if I even give it a chance in the first place. Chris Tomlin said, "God's grace is the most powerful force in the universe." Amen.

Re: Daily Habits

Yes, you are getting too good at watching TV!

You know it's interesting, I really like this idea and I think it's great and I need to make a habit of making a habit out of the things I want to make habits of. I really like the idea of looking at it as building A at the expense of B (and there are lots of B's I need to remove (and bees)). At the same time, the properties of addiction work in funny ways, such that abstaining from an action can, in some ways actually make the draw stronger rather than weaker... Guess that just goes to show we can't do it ourselves and we'll always need God! ... Phew!

Re: Ipod Charging and Playing Adapter

That's good, but you still can't have an iphone. ... at least until I get one. JK, thanks for your thoughtful insight, Derek (I figure I comment enough that I can thank people for posting here).

I see good points in what both of your are saying. Derek, I agree that the Good News itself does not change, no matter what/when/where/who. At the same time, I think Daniel's point that how we approach and experience the Good News personally will frame how we sow it to others is if not ideally true (in a perfect world...), it is quite true as a reality. The Good News is good, but if I live it as drudgery, and walk around talking about how hard obedience to God is, my sowing will be fruitless*. Daniel framed this much more positively in his post, noting that we have a plethora of exciting ways that we can convey the Gospel to others; through my mindset, I would say we have an onus to be enticing ambassadors for Christ.**

*I think all three of us would agree that how we share the Gospel is not what will save souls, God's got that under control, so I don't think that needs to enter into the discussion

**If I put words in anyone's mouth... whoops

Re: San Diego Property Tax Adjustment

I still haven't received anything yet...

Re: Outside the Box - A Message from Luke 5

The cliche answer for one of the words on one of my lines is prayer, especially in terms of seeing the Kingdom of God come into Jenn's Dad's life. I desperately want to see healing and restoration in his life, and yet I do not pray for it enough. I've started the habit of writing him letters to try and include in our life, since otherwise there is a physical and mental disconnect. Often I find myself too tired to write, but I know that I must write, consistently sharing with him the daily happenings of my life.

The distinction of active and passive really isn't helpful for me. I think that having a perspective of openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit into both of what you term lifestyle / street corner evangelism is most important. Sharing the Kingdom of God is active. It's never passive. Back to openness. Being open allows you to be sensitive to meet people where they are at, whether that be a random person on the street or a close friend who you've known for years.

Re: Extravagant Faith - A Message from Matthew 13:1-9; 18-23

I think by the fact that you are praying before the game is sowing the vision of dependence on prayer. What about asking people if they have anything they need prayer for as well? I think also engaging the person who abstains can help too, like specifically asking them if they have anything in their life they'd like you to pray for. I think sowing seeds is often asking the right questions or giving opportunity for people to discover and grow in the Kingdom of God.
