If I had to imagine his thought process I'd guess that he considers extra metadata properties to be superfluous. I think this is a big reason why there's the addition of the data-* prefix attributes. More information about this can be found here:
http://www.w3.org/html/wg/html5/#custom

Re: The BBC, microformats, RDFa and Resig

Oh! I believe you're correct; Classic Templates are still being used.

In the 'post-footer' section, I added:

<a class="comment-link" href="<$BlogItemPermalinkURL$>#disqus_thread">View Comments< /a>

Then in the 'comments' div I added the General Disqus Code Snippet

Lastly, the "Number of Comments Code" gets pasted in before the
</body>
tag.

Re: Blogger Integration Problem with Custom Domains?

Ah, my mistake. They have no value apart from that government granted monopoly. If the law changed and patents were eliminated, then his company would be completely worthless. I've worked at 4 big companies and 2 startups. They aren't all the same. Small companies in particular have much more potential to be "human" (though of course they can be awful humans).

Re: Is there more to life than money?

Hi DAR,

I'm not suggesting that everyone can or should start a startup. In fact, this post is more about JOINING a startup than STARTING one. You certainly don't need money to join a startup (at least not one which is funded).

Also, I certainly wouldn't claim that startups are some kind of "utopian meritocracy" -- they're not. What is did say is, "Of course smaller companies can be awful too, but they have a greater potential to be good."

My main point is that those who are in a position to join a startup, should seriously consider it. I completely understand that most people don't have the necessary qualifications or are too tied down by other obligations. However, there are also many who aren't, and that's who this was written for.

Furthermore, even for people not in a position to join a tech startup, it's worth thinking about ways to make work life more enjoyable, and there are many ways to accomplish that.

Re: Is there more to life than money?

It was just an error in the payroll system. I think part of the problem goes back to schools and education, which often suck all the joy out of learning and doing.

I find video games to be somewhat inspirational though. The amount of time and effort that people put into playing them shows that the potential is there.

Re: Is there more to life than money?

Wow, that's a great quote!
