Way to adapt!

Re: Social media contests-inexpensive marketing at it’s best?

Hmm, It's pretty hard to run this kind of contest when you don't have many followers on either network to start with. How else are you promoting it? Have you sent it out to your email list to get them to sign on? Shared details with clients or asked co-workers to help spread the news on their networks? At least them you'd have an opportunity to reach them and their networks.

In addition your Twitter presence is very new and most of the posts are promotional so you might start thinking of other ways to engage the user base you want to attract. Do some blog and Twitter surfing to find people who need your products and are blogging about things you can discuss. You don't have to agree with them, the point is to add value to the conversation.
Then they look at your profile and ohhh! there's a contest!

Re: Gravity7: Social Interaction Design by Adrian Chan: Social search and advertising: Google's endgame?

I'm thinkin' that Google just learned what they needed to from the "Beacon Fail" and will implement a deeper and more personally invasive experiment of their own. Will it be Wave? I dunno, I need to see what people do with it to really get what it's capable of vs the hype. I definitely believe there will be more and more narrowing of privacy, no matter what the official line is.

The next question is; as our networks expand beyond our really close friends how much value is there to mining that extended network? We may not know each other or even influence each other at all.

Re: Nattering on about nonprofits and social media

Your stunt last year was a hoot Holly. That's why I paid for the service to have it backup to my own Amazon S3 account. I own the data and I can access it any time, but it's not stored on my home machine or laptop where it can then disappear or be copied.

Re: Social Media ROI- or is itROE?

I know, it could be kinda scary to have it become an alternate commenting channel. They don't have the tools. They forgot to set measurable goals when they started. They don't know what they could measure if they did. They are using social media for purposes that are difficult or impossible to accurately measure. They simply don't care about measurement.

Re: News River – real-time updates for your favorite feeds

Well that's the fun part for me, scanning the titmes to look for good content, learning new things.
