He made it clear that prices would drop appreciably at any volume, and I came away feeling like this would be a great modular add-on for almost any application, but ideal for OTG cabins, or yurts at Burning Man. :)

Re: Dow Unveils Impressive New Powerhouse Solar Shingle (with Photos)

Who said anyone has a problem with making a profit?

Re: Green School Primer [Giveaway]

Davidclaflin, congrats you're one of the winners in this giveaway. It'll change your mind. The science of climate change is a hot aspect of environmentalism, but the massive destruction and waste of resources, habitats, and the environment in general is kind of hard to realize unless you're an industrialist or you read something like that book.

Re: Green Building Trends [Giveaway]

Cullen, amazingly enough, you've won the book! Land + 11 homes + 2 apartments + office space total $3.5 million?

Seems pretty reasonable in comparison to some of the one-off homes we see pushing the $1million or more mark.

Re: The Sage Sets a LEED Platinum Record

It's not just for demonstration ... the home is for sale to be lived in.

Re: Modern Green Concept Home in Bellevue

While the Passive House zeros in on energy efficiency and tightness, LEED has a broader focus on other important environmental aspects, such as site issues, construction activity, materials and waste, water efficiency, and environmental air quality, etc. The goals and programs are slightly different, and in terms of sustainability, energy is only one part of the equation. To be clear, when you say you want to see more from LEED projects, someone else could say they want Passive House projects to use more eco-friendly materials and use less water.

Re: 11 Net-Zero Energy Workforce Homes

Thanks, Brian. The first time I heard about it was at last year's AIA convention. Brach presented the principles of the passive house, and I was really blown away.
By the way, great job on your blog. It's such an exciting time right now. Things are changing in our industry so fast that sometimes its hard to keep up with it all. I have found your blog to be about the best resource for what's happening with the green movement to date. .......And its creator is in Utah, how cool is that?

Re: Green Building Trends [Giveaway]

Great to hear.
