excellent article! I see a similar but gradual shift happening also in communication sfrom government away from a unidirectional to a dialogue form...mostly on the municipal level, but also increasingly on a country level (the Netherlands).

LinkedIn would be an excellent (OpenId-) identity provider. I wonder if they have any plans in that direction.

Chris, great that you have moved to www.disqus.com; that makes it even more convincing for the community I am working for at this moment: http://www.ambtenaar20.nl, the largest web 2.0 community for civil servants.

I have recently migrated it to the Thesis template, and made a tighter integration with the corresponding http://ambtenaar20.ning.com community site.

The next step is moving to http://www.disqus.com, Disqus.com is still not that widely used in the Netherlands; but I think this will change this year.

To be fair, FriendFeed has yet to encounter the usage loads that Twitter has encountered. If FriendFeed gets a few million users, we'll see what happens.

Good point! I also use both Twitter and FriendFeed; they nicely complement each other.

I still think that FriendFeed is a very stable platform, I almost never encounter downtime.
