Therefore, to become truly happy, we must once again make love and kindness a universal imperative. We must take the risk that our fellow man will not be a mass murdering psycho, (because really, those folks could get you either way) and instead assume the best of those around us. While this certainly leaves us more vulnerable, our attempt to avoid pain has guaranteed our failure to find happiness. Instead, we should give in to our urge for kindness — the world will be a better place, and I think we’ll all be a lot happier.

Any news on the teabaggers' plans? If Obama wanted to land somewhere with a real possibility of getting some extreme right wing protesters to act all extreme and right wing, Grand Junction is certainly the right place.

So I'm lost - should I use the double space after a sentence or not? I got chewed out for using two spaces during my gig at the Colorado Independent. Apparently it drove the copy editors completely batty. I've since adjusted the way I type, but my mom chewed me out for using just ONE space for my Harvard Div School application. I guess since I got in that means I should just use the one space?

20 is wrong. First of all, that's not a saying. Second of all, it's about the optimal laugh, not the longest laugh. It's "He who laughs last, laughs best." But bravo for the brain teasers!

In God's image does not necessarily mean five fingers on two hands with one mouth and a pair of lungs for O2 consumption. You really think God would need to breathe? The existence of intelligent life somewhere other than Earth does not prove nor disprove the existence of God. While it would certainly shake up some far-right nutjobs, as my favorite paleontologist Jack Horner recently said in Wired, "Religion is about faith, not evidence. Comparing science and religion isn't like comparing apples and oranges, it's more like apples and sewing machines."
