Are card games sports? Hearts, Bridge, Spades are all card games that require strategic thinking (of course nowhere near the level of Chess).

I think a sport involves a combination of both intellectual and physical battles — the complete athlete must possess both the hard skills and the soft skills.

Chess is a great game, but I don't think it's a sport. It's completely intellectual. Which is great for a game, but not a sport in my opinion.

Re: Fixing the Twitter Skew on FriendFeed

That's true, but I think a lot of people like myself are even more frustrated with RSS readers — boring plain text with badly formatted images (if there are any) and more subscriptions than we know what to do with.

FriendFeed definitely has it's issues, it's still early but it has potential.

Re: We Need Social Media Interpreters, not more Evangelists

That's a great analogy, it captures the essence of what I'm trying to say.

The social media community needs to stop playing in the sandbox — the beach and ocean are just a few steps away.

Thanks for stopping by Robs :)

Re: We Need Social Media Interpreters, not more Evangelists

Exactly. I think this also ties it to Rob's comment — we all jump on the latest Web 2.0 app / Social media community because we love the excitement of exploration, discussion, and debating the use brand new technologies and communities.

But the very nature of the early-adopter mentality means that they move on to the next fad very quickly. This produces a huge problem if you're trying to a decent product lifetime. The reason why Facebook and Flickr are so successful is because they've maintained sustainability by getting the general population hooked — early adoption and widespread/general adoption.

The gen. pop. has adopted because someone told them where the value was — how using these tools can help them solve a problem or take advantage of an opportunity. That's where the real potential lies.

Re: Over Four Years of Turmoil is Soon Ending

@Beth I know you'll be looking forward to finishing it — that's quite an accomplishment! From what I've heard, it's best to have a decent # of relevant keywords than a whole big lot of them. Of course, this doesn't matter if you can limit the amount of tags that go popular.

The great thing is that you're able to moderate it so spammers / mischievous people don't go messing anything up purposefully.

Re: Top 3 Reasons Why Jamaicans Shouldn’t go Camping

@Ehren trust me, its a good thing!
