However, I consider myself an average Dropbox user and I saw the in-app provided instructions.

It really was not that difficult. There will always be outliers, but I am certain most average folks will either leave the setting as-is, or will be able to toggle, quit, & restart.

Re: Dropbox Hasn't Learned their Lesson

"I posted an update to the post, but toggling that setting does not work"

This is what your "update to the post" comprises:

'Update: As some folks have pointed out, there is a "Finder toolbar" option that is enabled. Toggling that yields no results, although maybe it will work in the future.'

Nowhere do you mention a restart is required prior to the change taking effect. Your comment is ambiguous, and implies a mere toggle would immediately yield the desired result. That is simply not the case.

If you had actually restarted, and expect readers who may have failed to restart to also follow these in-app provided instructions, then you should have mentioned this important fact. That you did not include it leaves your having restarted, or not, unclear.

Re: Dropbox Hasn't Learned their Lesson

If you actually had bothered to read the Dropbox UI, it specifically states that when toggling the "Finder toolbar" option, the changes will take affect the next time Dropbox starts.

So merely quit the Dropbox app and restart it. Tada - no more toolbar.

This is a non-story.

ETA: I am running Dropbox v12.3.19.

Re: How Google Maps Saved My Tokyo Trip, Exhibit A

Believe it or not, a lot of us actually do drive in Tokyo. :-) In that regard, Apple Maps is actually quite well designed. I've been using Apple Maps for driving directions rather than my in-car navigation system, and its been getting me all around Tokyo without any problems.

Searching definitely sucks on Apple Maps. Searching in English in Apple Maps is almost non-existent whereas on Google Maps it works just fine. But you're right...built-in public transit information would make Apple Maps much more valuable an app. Thankfully we have Google Maps to fill that void. Train route information is outstanding!

Re: Contest: Two Weeks of Holiday Tegra #3 – Win a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Updated: Winner Picked!)

I was raised both Jewish and Christian, so I knew at a very early age Santa wasn't real. Nothing else. How you came to the conclusion that my intent was otherwise is simply beyond me.

I'm quite versed in the Android Flash issue and know full well that not all devices offer that capability. Nonetheless, Flash is not outright "banned" from Android as it is on iOS. No matter what, those issues do not detract from the humour depicted in the image.

Re: Lance Armstrong either doped or this is one helluva coincidence

Agreed. By virtue of the fact that you have your apps and your husband his apps, you have admitted that each of you can not share a single application.

This is the one issue I have with the iPad, that multiple users can not use a single app on a single iPad.

As an example, if you download and use Instagram then the app is configured for your account. Your husband can not come back later and easily configure the app to connect to his account. It is certainly possible but not user-friendly, because a single iOS installation is not designed to be used by multiple people.

Re: Touch Screen Phones Vulnerable to “Smudge Attacks”

That is a little scary that she was able to guess your password on the first try just because of the smudges. Although you may be able to see distinct smudges on four numbers, one must still guess the correct order. There are almost 10k potential combinations for four digits, so guessing on the first try was a stroke of luck methinks.

Re: Touch Screen Phones Vulnerable to “Smudge Attacks”

It's a little over the top but still worth keeping an eye on methinks. I'm not sure this is a vulnerability to lose sleep over but it is definitely plausible, especially as technology inches towards increased touch screen use.

Re: Is Anti-Virus Software Required On Mac OS X?

Nice way to just pick out eight words out of context. How about you read the entire statement and the "entire diatribe" rather than finding some piece that matches an argument you would like to make.

The average OS X user who does not engage in risky online behavior will not need to run anti-virus software at this juncture.

That is right there in the conclusion of the "entire diatribe." Did you not read it on purpose? Also consider reading Rich's comment above for further clarity on our recommendation.

Re: http://scott.jarkoff.com/post/812545882

How exactly is that so obvious?
