Ha! You're right. I know this most likely won't happen and there's nothing great to write about lately. It's just this talk always bums me out when I play it out in my mind.

I'm not stressed but I too needed something to discuss this week.

To start. He said it's a lot more stress on his arm to come out of the pen than to start every 5 days.

Yeah it's hard to categorize them together. They're my favorites in different ways.

Murph left when I was 10 years old. I love him primarily out of a sense of nostaglia because he first sparked my love for baseball.

Smoltz however was introduced to me at the age of 7 and 11 years later he's been like a big brother or hero I've admired from the stands as I grew into a young man.

They play very different roles in my development as not only a Braves fan but as one who holds a great affection for the game.

Deep down I think you're right. I just hate this kind of talk every free agent year. I wonder if it's because DOB has nothing better to right about with this bummer of an offseason so far.

Great observation, Grant. It's not an impact move but it's a move to get a proven starter who has remained healthy for years. I believe he'll be a #3 but with all the DL time we had last year, adding someone who most likely get us 30 starts will be very nice.

I must have been mistaken. I assumed he was since he was picked up before the deadline probably.

By "Japanese guy" you must mean "Tazawa". I haven't found any more info about him since that one rumor.

This Peavy thing is getting on my dang nerves. If we have to lose Escobar so be it but I don't like it. Now I hear they're asking for Flowers as well. Heck no!!

I agree. Not only was it insufferable to watch Soto take McCann's All Star spot Hurdle didn't even give him an AB.

In all honesty I wanted to put a little lightening rod in the mix. He's about the same age as Jurrjens so it's not unheard of but it would be unlikely. Like I said, there's too many what if's to know what to think at this point.

I wanted to put something up that would be some just extreme speculation.

You're right Esco is a much better shortstop and maybe the Pads have had enough of Green (especially after his self inflicted injury).

I guess it's a matter of who would you take... a quality starter like Peavy or a somewhat over priced middle infielder in Green. Esco will definitely go if Peavey comes on.

Hanson was pretty good with Mississippi last year getting a no hitter. I don't think it would be wise to trade away too many pitching prospects (Neftali Perez is one I'd like back) so it could be one or the other, Morton or Hanson that may get included.

Khalil Green could be getting up to $6.5 for 2009! Yikes! I suppose with a little cash to spend I'd rather spend money than prospects (lesser of two evils). The Teixeira deal is still a little glaring.

Not a bad series but that's a good from a different perspective. I was looking for objectively good series from the viewpoint of being well played by both teams. I hope you voted and if you add your WS pick for '08 you could win our prize.
