Filecoin is infrastructure, not a consumer-facing application like Facebook. Facebook would hypothetically use it instead of their own infrastructure, or renting from Google or Amazon

+1 Zoom and instructions for it beforehand. Most remote-friendly too. Chromecast and AirPlay nice ideas but I always found them kind of unreliable

The separate downloads are largely because not all video players and devices can handle multiple audio tracks or soft-subs.

Just curious, are you watching mostly on a desktop computer?

This is amazing. AT&T, by contrast, has no free international voice, text, or data at all. I spent about $40 for a minimum of voice and text service in Canada last weekend. It would've been another $30 for 120MB of data. I also had to call a customer service rep to set it up. Dinosaurs

This data seems suspect to me. My personal experience is that developers and designers in SF make more than people in NYC, which is reflected on http://angel.co/salaries too. Maybe they're including more than just "startups"?

This also doesn't seem to factor in the cost of benefits, taxes, etc which seem like they'd vary a lot by location.

I've been using unicorn on Heroku for a while and have found no real gain from using *preload_app=true* on Heroku, but lots of headaches from manually managing connections. Heroku can't take advantage of Unicorn's rolling USR2 restarts, which is when the fast worker starts from preload_app would be useful.

I've also run into issues with logging while using unicorn and Heroku. Explicitly directing logs at STDOUT fixes it: https://gist.github.com/jam...

Zeus doesn't require modifying your app's code; it works with console, rake, generate, etc. in addition to tests; and in general I find it far less quirky

Great post. Did you try with vs. without preload_app=true? NewRelic works fine for me with just using [1], and not needing to do any connection mgmnt is a big win.
