If you happened to see it before, you might have been scared. Very scared!

My take away is that there are certain post types that might be a good use of the WP BB application. One thing that might help is to set the Storm to take smaller pictures, at least ones that will not break your WordPress theme. Also, I believe the Storm photo application allows for rotating pictures, so that might allow for them to be uploaded into the new post without being all sideways!

It's all a journey!

Re: My Notebook is Dead, Long Live My Netbook

Well, the first and hopefully last, snafu has occurred with the ordering process. I must admit up front I could have "probably" caught this one prior to it getting to this point. When I ordered the RAM from Amazon.com, I know for certain that I choose the 2GB of DDR2-800 RAM. Apparently, somehow they switched that order with the inferior version they sell, the DDR2-667 model. Because I failed to notice it (if, in fact, it was on the initial pages at all) I submitted the order. This morning I had notice of shipping from the third party supplier, and I immediately noticed the discrepancy.

I'm guessing I'll have to wait for the 667 RAM to get here, send that back, and wait for the 800 RAM to arrive later. ARGH! Oh well, lesson learned. Plus, the netbook does have a 1GB bit of RAM in it, so not like I won't be able to start using it. So, looking on the bright side of this "challenge" I'll have a much better feel for just how much of a difference the addition of 1GB of RAM will make to the computer.

Re: My Notebook is Dead, Long Live My Netbook

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you, fireengineering! I have seen a ton of difference in how a machine performs when adding additional RAM. Plus, I've been building desktop computers for about 10 years now, and the single cheapest investment for boosting performance has always been to add more RAM. But you're right, for the low cost of the additional RAM, why not do it? The machine holds 2 GB, so I figure, why not use up the space?!

Thanks for your comment!

Re: Another test of the WP BB app

Yikes! Guess I need to see about the auto cropping (and whether or not rotating can be done on the Storm; I think it should be able to do that).

But all in all, a success!

Yay! Woo Hoo!

Who needs a laptop now?

;) LOL

Re: test

Love this Internet thing! Thanks for the pointers Raananbarcohen. I'm going to check it out right now. Will post back if things look rosier for me!

Hmmm, doesn't seem that the latest version of the application has that listing for "Compatibility mode" So, not sure how to turn that off.

Bummer! I really want to be a farmer now!

Okay, maybe I don't want to work as hard as they do! The respect you gain for these amazing folks is immense. Read this book! If you're interested, I'll let you borrow my copy when I'm done. Just drop a message and let me know.

Re: Now reading “The Omnivore’s Dilemma”

Just wanted to post a quick update during a break in baking my roast and ratatouille. This book is simply mind blowing. Even though I've just taken to eating beef and pork again, after 26 years, what I've read thus far has made me completely realize there is such a thing as over doing it. And when you over do the meat eating thing, you really are contributing heavily to the downfall of our environment. This is saying nothing of course about all the corn we eat, drink, and likely wear! I heartily recommend this book for those who are interested in learning more about the real food chain in our modern world.

Re: Considering “Becoming a Chef”

Have finally finished "Becoming a Chef". After arriving to the Jefferson Market Branch a few moments after opening, I thought it might be nice to look around the remainder of the place since I had failed to do that yesterday. All in all, the inside looks much like you'd expect, a library. However, with a little effort you get to see all the subtle nuances that make up the late 1800's built facility. Really quite nice, and a clear tribute to the city of NY for acquiring and converting the property.

The "discovery" as you will, is the fact that there are no public accessible restrooms here! WTF? Now, I'm not sure as to why this may be the case, however considering my observation yesterday, and already today of those who appear homeless camping out in various nooks and crannies catching a warm nap, I am led to believe they might be responsible for removing access to facilities for the general public. I will however, do some investigations so as not to appear to be judging a book by the cover (sorry, you just have to slip that pun in when chatting about libraries. It's like an unwritten rule ;) )

Re: Qdoba food delivery in NYC

Okay! Food has been delivered. The rather unfriendly delivery man must have scooched into the building with someone coming in. Poor form on the other tenants part, and even poorer from for the delivery. What does it matter, you ask? Well, living on the 6th floor allows us time to "get to the door" when we know they are coming up with the food. And this just makes for better interactions with the delivery person (especially considering that I had a pen at the ready in case the delivery man didn't have one; and of course, he didn't, however, since I had to run to the door I failed to bring the pen and had to go back for it :( )

As to the food itself? Well, obviously, I enjoy Qdoba. This will have been my 9th time having food from them, and other than one episode where I had to beg for limes to put into the coronas, I've never had a challenge.

Opting to enjoy the taco platter first, I've put the chicken burrito to rest in the fridge, so that will be dinner (and likely breakfast since those things are really big!) You'll notice on the copy of my original order, I chose three tacos, one hard shell and two soft. Had the food preparer opted to put the hard taco shell between the 2 soft, I'm guessing there would not have been quite the "adventure" in separating the soft shells. Not a big deal, but still. Oh, and the hard shell, well, I suppose the steam envelope that was created by the plastic plate and clear plastic dome lid allowed it to not be quite so hard when I did eat them.

All in all, the taco sampler was actually quite good, and I was pleasantly surprised with Qdoba's version of a vegetarian taco: black beans and their white rice all held together with some cheese. A nice sampling of their salsa sauces made consuming the three tacos quite a nice journey.

Oh, and Qdoba's home made taco chips and guacamole that I ordered extra were a definite requirement (and in an unofficial survey, Marlene and I are pretty sure Qdoba is one of the least expensive places in NYC to get guacamole. Always a good thing!)

So, if you're near a Qdoba, get yourself a rewards card, get it signed up online, and start ordering up!

Re: CES and WordCamp Las Vegas wrap up soon

Thank you, John! Have gotten the first chapter posted up. The new theme is in place and I like its simplicity and cleanliness. Have integrated Disqus comments (duh!) and am now going to work out where I want to insert the pdf download icon and link for each chapter. Likely both on the actual post page as well as the category archive. This post is long, and this is one of the shortest chapters, so I'm more likely to break chapters up and create several posts for each. Can't wait to start the audio recording for each! Heck, maybe I'll even record video?

Re: My Thoughts

Wondering if the psolenoid interface doesn't work with add on commenting systems? The ease of use is nice, I suppose. However, if you are able to grab the URL for the video from YouTube (which is all this plugin requires) then you are as equally capable of grabbing the embed code. And the plugin just goes ahead and inserts a thumbnail and link back to the YouTube page for the video when you access the post via your RSS reader. I know the documentation indicates some readers won't display correctly, however, the embed code from YouTube displays correctly in Google Reader.

Oh, and the selection of border color doesn't work in the plugin either. Bummer.

Going to have to give this a fail for my use. But if you're scared of copying and pasting embed code, give it a shot!

Re: First post from 38K feet (Scripting News)

That's actually a lot lower than in other places where you're trapped. Convention centers and (many) hotels for example. Hell, that's about the price T-Mobile was charging for its hotspot service at Starbucks. Totally hear ya. I'm a hot and cold Twitter user. It only took me a couple of sessions of having a small number of tweets coming to my cell phone for that to get turned off! Since I started using it, I've tried various desktop (and when it was available, IM) applications for notifications. Lately, I've been using TwitterFox and that seems to give me about the right amount of distractions, though not uncommon for me to just turn it off in the browser's status bar.

As to the vibes, I honestly don't really get a whole lot of incoming so, I'll just take your word on that front.
