Great suggestions Leo. I'm disappointed to learn that Chrome doesn't work with the 64 bit version. I'm downloading Windows 7 now at my university and I'm getting a 1.59 MB/s (yes, that's megaBYTES) transfer rate so it's only taking about 35-40 minutes. I'm going to install it on my MacBook under BootCamp, anything I need to be on the lookout for?

Hi Jem, I just checked out your site on Inis Meáin and the pictures are deadly! I'll gladly add ye to my blogroll.

We spent a weekend on Inis Oirr this past June and had such a relaxing time. Now we need to visit Inis Meáin and complete our tour of the Aran Islands.

Dia duit! I am not encouraged by your story, but fortunately we have many people looking into this for us in Ireland (I'm still in the States doing everything I can). We are in the process of seeking legal advice and action, so wish us luck.

Biking is definitely more popular here. Walking is also just a way of life. Most people don't think twice about stopping at the store on the walk home from work to grab a few things at the grocery store. It's easy to see why Americans have so many health problems.

The pace of life is slower here and people are generally more frugal when it comes to energy. Here's a few tips I would suggest, and which I personally use, to green your home:
<ul><li>Change all your bulbs to CFLs.</li>
<li>Get a timer for your hot water heater and only run it a few hours in the morning for showers and a few hours in the evening for washing up the dishes.</li>
<li>Walk to work or ride a bike, it's great excercise and an excellent stress reliever!</li></ul>

The simple things will add up to big energy savings.

I have definitely observed loads of negative sentiment toward the US while overseas. I tell my friends that America is not a bad country, it just makes bad foreign policy decisions.

You got that right! It's definitely been a bit of culture shock. We've been here 3 full and have already been to Target twice and had Starbucks coffee. My brother was taking the piss out of me for riding a bike to his house the other night and he only lives about 1/4 mile away from where we're staying. "Why didn't you drive here?" he said.

I guess I'm fully Europeanized by now...

Exams are taking up most of my time at the moment but come May 1st, the craic will re-commence! I'll help you out with a West of Ireland itinerary as much as I can...

I haven't seen a huge increase in comments since adding the DO follow plugin but it definitely has helped. I also haven't had a problem with comment spam, Akismet is taking care of 99% of that for me.
