It may be funny, looking at the pictures but let me tell you I used to work once upon a time assembling Canon and Xerox image servers.

Power cords and their converters were stored in different bins. An order called for them by a 9 digit bar code - distinct for both the cord and the adapter.
I'd just had to walk to the bin and blindly pick out the cord by just re-checking the bar code and do the same for the converter, and if they both "PASSED" under the scanner, they were packed and sent to shipping.

Did I check the the holes and the plugs ? Nope ! I just did my job exactly as said by the Manufacturing Process Instruction posted on the company's intranet !

I can't tell you how many times I misread the 9 digit bar code and packed Australian Power cords bound for the UK or German power cords bound for the USA - or more ridiculously, French cords to Italy and vice versa.

And I was never once blamed !

Jaffer, you are a kid at heart! You have the spirit of an Uncle. You're comment should be a blog post in, and of itself. I can hear the noise and visualize the train engines releasing cars by your excellent description. The phrase 'living next to the railroad tracks', signifies the ability to block out things that most people would find distracting. It makes perfect sense.

I didn't know the Mz. blogged as well. Hello !
No kids here and none planned in the near future.

My late uncle used to live near Wadala Rd. station in Bombay and his apartment was adjacent to a Railway yard.

You'd hear crashing of empty oil cars all day and boy those bangs were loud ! When making a consist, the engines would reverse at high speed with 2-3 cars attached. When enough momentum was gained, the cars would be released and the engine would brake. So the empty cars would roll down the tracks and stop with a BANG hitting a stationary car !

Uncle and family were so used to it that it was possible for them to even get pleasant afternoon siestas ! Well, they lived there for more than 30 years.

I loved visiting just to watch the trains. But I never got a good nights rest especially when shaken up to a horn sounding like this. (MP3 file)

Yes It would be just for me but the kids could play if I got kid friendly games. I am also a pc gamer as well, maybe buying more memory and games for my pc would save me hundreds of dollars. I think another gig of mem would be around $30 US.

Even if he clicked it as a joke or on a dare it was the most insane. Now one's to blame but the buyer himself and I have no simpathy for him what so-ever.

I had moron of a friend, who as a joke rised the bid on e-bay by $1 to the very soccer-ball that David Beckham hit and missed a goal during a match at EuroCup 2004. The highest bid was in the range of $900 million and my friend's bid stayed there for several days while he was tearing his hair out.
Fortunately some one outbid him but in the end the ball was sold at a much lower price.

Heavy lesson learned there.

I started using Notepad++ a few years ago for a quick and cheap solution to edit VisualBasic and C# code as it allows syntax hilighting.
Now I use it to edit the themes on my blog - using the FTP function. see screenshot

Too bad Notepad++ is unavailable for Linux, however I run it on Debian using some Wine ;) visit website

Gedit and KWrite which are default editors for GNOME and KDE have syntax highlighting, sidebar, and tabbed browsing but I am not sure if the latest versions support FTP.

But for my todo lists, I use "Remember The Milk". I find it very simple.
They've integerated it with Twitter and I can talk to it using Jott, which makes it very convinient.

Kathy, you don't know how pleased I am with the fact you got a chuckle. I bet a panty could put a shine on a Macintosh, eh? Will take the apple advise to heart. Constitution is O.K. for now - more worried about dang Jalapeno peppers than apples these days.

Growthumbs... not just 'mayonnaise' but 'NO mayonnaise'. Say it about 5 times in a row. See! Who would a thunk? As for your apple polishing technique: "unique" comes to mind.

OMG, It's hilarious ! But if I was in your place, I'd not be amused ... pissed off ! And then I'd laugh later and twitter about it and you'd be commenting on it instead of me :D

If you ever get a chance to watch a cricket match, you'll notice the bowlers try to roughen up the ball in their crotch area and stain their pants red.
Totally accetable behaviour in that gentleman's game.
