Shipment Tracking with Junecloud's Delivery Status

I've used and loved Delivery Status since it was only a Dashboard widget. It had never occurred to me to set up a rule to automate the addition of tracking numbers like this.

I use a TON of Gmail filters to manage and label incoming mail, so I hopped over to set up a rule in Gmail to do this. I crafted a search rule that grabbed tracking info not only Amazon, but shipment notifications from Apple and most everything else (surprisingly, the query "tracking number" was almost perfect at grabbing what I wanted, and excluding anything irrelevant). But then I ran into a roadblock.

Because Gmail requires that you verify an address before it will let you forward to it via a rule/filter, and there's no way for Junecloud to parse those account verification emails, you can't set up a Gmail rule to automatically forward stuff to Junecloud. Bummer. :-(

From their support page:

"Automatic forwarding from Gmail is not currently supported. We have no way to get their verification code for you, and Gmail forwards the emails in a way that makes it harder for us to tell who the sender is."

I use Gmail mainly via the web (and my devices), and not via a client like Mail.app (I spent most of my days behind a corporate proxy that won't let me configure Mail.app to get my Gmail), so using a client isn't an alternative for me. Bummer.

Anyway, thanks (as always) for sharing this great idea. I wanted to post about the Gmail issue, because I'm sure people are going to run into it, and might contact you about it.

Re: iPhone 5 LEGO Dock v2: Headphone Compatibility

Me too. I was listening to the iPhone 5 episode of The Talk Show with John Gruber and MG Siegler, and they were discussing this. Turns out that John (and apparently, a lot of other people) has always carried the iPhone "upside down" (that is, the end with the dock connector is at the top of the pocket). Said it feels more natural to put it in and take it out. With the old headphone jack location, this was problematic, so he's relieved they made this change.

Carrying it that way seemed weird to me - I've always carried "dock connector down". So I've been trying it, and it takes some getting used to. The jury's out as to whether it's any easier to pocket or draw, but then, I'm working against 5 years of muscle memory here. :-)

Re: The teaser trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's controversial Zero Dark Thirty hits the web

Chris Pratt plays the character Andy Dwyer on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. He's a goofball, and occasionally assumes an alter ego of "Burt Macklin, FBI".
Being cast in a movie presumably full of government agents, one can only hope that his character will be an FBI agent.
It would be humorous.

Re: The teaser trailer for Kathryn Bigelow's controversial Zero Dark Thirty hits the web

Chris Pratt damn well better be playing Burt Macklin, FBI. I've been doing it for months, and I'm going to write it up soon, but I keep finding more and more reading on the topic that I want to do before I share it.

The thing I recommend you do is get and read the book "Why We Get Fat" by Gary Taubes. It takes a look at the science of what makes our fat tissues grow (hint: it's carbohydrates and insulin), and turns the conventional wisdom of "all you have to do is burn more calories than you take in" on its head. It's very enlightening, and I've been following a low carb "ketogenic" diet for a few months now, and I've make great progress. Plateau busted.

Good luck! :-)

Re: Willard M.
