I couldn't honestly tell you, now, if they played this tune, but in my reveries, they played EVERY song that I love by them, whether reality backs it up or not

nice set. the original... the cover... the L7, which I'd never heard before... and am happy to have, now.

Re: Numberscruncher: Mothers, Moms, Politics, and Palin

Normally I just come to Popdose for whatever music and movie schmear I can get, figuring that whatever is going on in these other blocs can do just fine without me... surely they can (don't call me Shirley)...
Tonight, with a few extra minutes, I decided to click onto this Numbercruncher and ended up gotten got!
Spot-on, with this written observation thing, and sheesh... now I gotta wend back through however deep the archives go? As for the soundtrack, I think the tunes complement the storyline perfect. Even songs I never need hear again (on the radio, at least, and through overexposure, not because they are bad songs) - "American Woman", "All Right Now" - work great for me, here.

Re: The Friday Mixtape: Beatles Covers Edition!

Well, turns out it was (I think) a problem on my end... If I were asked to pick just two songs from each of these albums, to form an overview/ highlight reel, I'd probably fail... but you did a great job!

I've sat a few people down with the Sound+Vision box set, over the years, in order to set them straight regarding Bowie's greatness. I noticed that all the kids were kind of singing/ mumbling at about the same pitch and speed... I went around and checked... Class of 17 and 16 were listening to, you guessed it, Pyromania! Since it was the first class of the day, It seemed that most of 'em had started the tape on side one, at the beginning, so were roughly (very roughly) in synch, give or take a minute.
I sincerely can't remember what I was listening to, but it was about this time in my life that my older brother started sending me mix-tapes... Husker Du, Replacements (yeah, he was in Mpls) but also X, and other stuff that would become my mainstays through high-school... And I'm pretty sure that from that day forward, just to be an asshole, mind you, I cut down Leppard any chance I could. Even though I liked some of their songs, I liked being an asshole more. Yeah the punk was working... and the punks had listened to some Kinks!

Re: assholes

First thing I thought when I saw that pic: "It's Dave Attell... and he's got hair!"

Re: Dw.
