keywords the right way is a mucht better option.

The right way means that you only use up to a maximun of 10 words that are also in your article/page content.

Try to write good metatag descriptions will be an even better thing to do.
Combining those keywords in it will help a lot.

<dc:creator this post was writen in the Joomla 1.0.x era, we now face a new challenge and this will most certainly help to create a better 404 page then we currently get from a Joomla 1.5 install.

sh404SEF is (not yet) ready to handle template based 404 error pages.

<dc:creator "extend display" on the right site of the component screen.

Then open the configuration screen , and click the Tab "Advanced", there you will find an option "Rewriting mode" you should set this to "with .htaccess (rewrite mode" from the dropdown choices.

Make sure you have your a .htaccess file in the root of your Joomla installation.
Check if every thing works out, on some hosing providers you need to change some lines.
Documentation on the content of that .htaccess file is also included in the SEF documentation that you can reach from the component control panel.

Mon, 17 Nov 2008 08:47:54 "free" version means that the Download access you get is just good for one day.

That means that if you opt for the free version you only have one day to download it.
Mostly that will do just fine.

The component itself has no restrictions in use, just install it and it will work forever.

Hope this helps you get this great cannot think of any plugin that can do that besides the ones you already mentioned.

Best option you have is to use the SEF Patch from Joomlatwork.com which will ocst you about 10 dollars I believe, but that will give you the oppertunitly to rewrite just the HTML Title on each post and even on menu links.

So that way you get, Joomla Page title that shows on the page, Joomla alias that is used for sh404SEF urls and with the page the HTML title which is the one picked up by Google.

Thu, 23 Oct 2008 15:10:11 but the Title of you article is even more important.

You can have a website ranked on your targeted keyword by using the right Title (and some stuff more) even without having a lot of inbound links.

Re: Please solutions for your problems.

But for most Joomla webmasters this is to complicated. Using sh404SEF will give you the opportunity to modify your 404 page via a normal contant editing screen AND produce the right 404 error code for Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 1.0

Re: Joomla! 1.0 end of life

Based on your statistics I guess you are right, Joomla 1.0 is at the end of its livecycle.
However there will still be a lot of installed 1.0.x websites that are not going to be converted to 1.5

Conversion is not that easy and if you are depending on components that stay on the Joomla 1.0. platform you are not moving to 1.5.x

Yet the date you set has some nice figures around it :-) so yes, it is a good date to end the 1.0.x version and don't upgrade anymore (well maybe if there is a mayor security hole found?)

Re: How To Boost your Joomla site Loading Performance

@Chuck , I would have to test it on one of my new sites, al though I always use caching.
I would advice you to write down the things you changed in the files, because I really don't like downloading / hacking core files that don't come the original Joomla! site or a site like Joomlatwork.com... just to be on the secure sfe site you will understand that I think.

Re: How To Boost your Joomla site Loading Performance

@may: Please set them back to 604 (the middle 0 is for write access for apache uers groups) for some more tips and best practices for Joomla read my post http://blog.hummerbie.com/j...

Re: Joomla Dynamic Page Title option for Improving Internal Linking

@Angel: The Option is on another page in Joomla 1.5, Go to the main menu item "Content" en then "Article manager" ther you will find the option in the righthand part of the icons menu called "Parameters".
Once you click that option, there parameters will show thet used to be in the Content tab of the "Old" Joomla 1.x Global configuration.

Re: Using Metatags in Joomla for getting more visitors

@Dave: You can find these fields on the right side of your Joomla page's in the edit screen under the Tab Meta Info, it is inserted automaticly by Joomla into the "Header" code.

You could check this by looking at the source code for the page once you look at the page via a Browser.
Look in the browser under "view" and then source code.

Re: How To Boost your Joomla site Loading Performance

@Software developer: Nice test, but as you might have read, this post is about using Cache and Cache components.
Your test shows that Drupal performs better than Joomla and Typo3, but with no Cache active.

You state that Joomla does not have a Cache function standard, but it does! You can set it in the Global configuration.

As you look at Dries comparison, Drupal with Cache will outperform Joomla to an even greater extend.

For a standard Joomla running website, the performance component will bring better performance.

Re: What is the right term? optimisation, optimization, optimalization or optimalisation

@Tim: ik weet het :-) It was a Dutch Joomla Optimization engineer from Joomlatwork.com, and they really, really make the best patch for Joomla when it comes to Search Engine Optimization.

And yes, I know there are some english mistakes on this Blog :-)
