people get offended so easily. if the service is not for you, why don't you simply ignore it instead of pleading moral superiority. VB is allowed to report on startups, especially if said startup is unusual (unusually slimy in this case, but novel nonetheless)

so let me get this straight, U1 does not work on windows. It's simply ubuntu-centric?
while dropbox supports all platforms and would therefor be more attractive to someone like me running multiple machines with multiples OSes

This bugged me for 2 weeks, caused my system to freeze at random, and external drives (usb especially) did not mount properly.... all down to floppy disk, which i do not even have! go figure... but finally figured it out yesterday, how fitting that this gets posted today!

here are the instructions on how to disable the floppy drivers using command prompt, this seemed to do the trick:

but i went ahead yesterday and also disabled them thru BIOS settings. no more system lag, USB auto-mounts correctly! phew!
