Is very simple -- Yangalango wants to distract people, i.e. the media, from the fact that they (meaning the Yahoo mgmt team) don't have a clue how to reenergize their company. They also do not want to lose their cushy jobs and power trip associated. So -- they try to muddy the watters and sew some confusion. We may partner with MSoft, We may Partner with Goog, We may go play with ourselves . Play these games for a while and some of the problem gets bored and moves elsewhere.

The problem now is that some activist shareholders lost some money on the Yahoo MS play and want to take it out of Yang's Boottocks.

Ancient history - Stevie blew it -- he let the finance/professional management types get too much sway, and he got shown the door. But he also got to do the Terminator "I'll be Back" thing when leaving he bulding.

My Uncle was in the ER on rotation when they brought JFK in to Parkland Hospital. He said the pres was really torn up -- brains out kinda thing. All the sudden the Secret Service came in and secured and removed everything. Really locked the situation down. I don't think we will ever know the truth.

Good call on the Journal. It is sad to see your journalistic paranoia paying off -- but still a good call.

After experiencing one of these "Shareholder value enhancing" deals, I will predict that...

1) Yang and his buddies, if they leave, will feel no pain.
2) Most of the best talent at Yahoo and some at Microsoft will soon be leaving for greener pastures.
3) There will be round after round after round of restructurings and cost cutting initiatives if the deal goes through -- years worth. In the end, the company will be run by a bunch of bean counting morons. Hardly any of the "value" projections will make it.
4) Icahn is setting Yahoo up for slaughter. He has already telegraphed to the world that he wants his directors on the Yahoo board so he can offer the company to MS. What kind of negotiating position will Yahoo have if they get MS to the table? All Ballmer has to do to get concessions now is say "no". I'll bet Icahn gets some kind of sweetheart deal out of this - if the deal goes or if it doesn't.

Actually -- I'm all for a stripped down XP (Libraries can be chopped because the hardware is set) Use a Sugar port for the gui. You may get an ok machine for beginners out of the process.

Stripped down xp with no craplets installed runs decent. Once they get a little further, I might try a sugar based olpc xp. See if scrappy doo can run it.
