It only tries the list of words you feed it. You would need to generate a more extensive dictionary that may contain your password permutation. That is beyond the scope of my tools and assistance.

Re: Splunk – SSL Settings for Web Interface

Note the date of the post. You need to dig back to the old script based post. So no. I’m not a crypographer that can attack the encryption keys. This app was simply a learning project for xcode at the time. Doing the script you could attack a full disk rather than a dmg.

Re: Splunk – Overview

To clarify on the license limit. On the free version its 3 violations in 30 day window, the paid is 5. But it cuts off search. log indexing still occurs. And if it's a mistake or out of control log source you can get support to issue a reset code to get you back into search.

Re: crowbarDMG – Version 1.0

My program does not generate a dictionary. It only runs through one you create some other way and provide the program as a text file..

Re: crowbarDMG – Version 1.0

If you are in OSX then it sounds like bad download.

Re: Using Automator to Gather Troubleshooting Information

Not exactly sure what you mean. You drag actions from the left side to the right to build a flow of actions. You edit those actions on the right side.

Re: TMUP 260: Trouble Shooting

I would check that action's properties. Make sure the location you put still exists such as if a removable drive is now removed. Such items are junk. They use WDS (Wireless Distribution System)

As to wired extension. Any of the network over powerline units from Dlink, Cisco (linksys) are suitable. I use a really old unit made by panasonic you cannot get any more. Some of them have four network ports for the far end away from your router. Meant for entertainment centers where you want to hook up multiple devices and have them think they are normal Ethernet wiring.

Yes I believe you can put the current airport express units into bridge mode and hook your microcell to it. It would work as well using the powerline adapters most likely. Apple references the bridge mode in the faq http://support.apple.com/kb... in the question about it having one Ethernet port. I have not tested it as joining a non apple router but theoretically it should work.

Re: TMUP 258: Roger Roger- George Starcher and I cover all things Airport Interface and networking

Mine is upstairs because that is my man room where my iMac, xbox etc all live. It is fine to keep it where the bulk of your equipment is using it. I use the network over power line to get coverage to opposite end of my house.

Re: OSX Lion Filevault v2 – Dictionary Attack

That only helps if someone recorded the recovery key or saved it with Apple when they setup the FDE. You need to build your dictionary with all the permuations you need before you use the file with crowbar. The tool is not a dictionary generator, it just uses whatever file you feed it.

Re: TMUP244: Victor and George Starcher talk Automator and Scripting

Thanks Jim. Crowbar just makes it a smoother automation. Due to file locks while the login is being tried there is no real way I can speed it up.

There are a number of tools out there that can generate dictionaries. Such as crunch in backtrack.
