Not sure how that ends works but the money goes to the kids at the school to
complete the trip. I would doubt very much that the organization would say
that they reached the quota needed to fill the journey.

I would be as worried about whether the $$ are actually been spent in Costa Rica or even if they ever reach that country. It sounds very similar to the gap year scams that are so prevalent now.
Maybe a good lesson would be to get her to analyse who receives what percentage of the money raised.

Robert,so far its 100% lame, hy:-
a) Your telephone number has to be 10 digits long - OK for USA maybe but in uk numbers are 11
b) No country codes allowed - nope we don't ll live in the USA.
c) Drop down list of towns- are these guys jokers?
Note that twitter was world wide and yep it did crash a lot but at least you got to see glimpses of what it could be like

I had similar problems with paypal. Customer history counts for nothing these days, there systems re not up to it.
Apparently in South Africa they send a text to your phone if they think a charge is fraud, you can then text back if it is indeed OK..

Here in the UK I had similar success with the iPhone AroundMe - arriving in a new town last weekend I used it for a search on closest supermarkets, AroundMe then displayed a map from our current location to the supermarket door. Just so awesome

I think the quick demo idea is great, as Lawrence says "are you doing anything about your idea or just talking about it...?" is a noble sentiment.

Pity I'm away for three months hoping to enjoy the full moon in The Galapagos :-)

The Barn at The Punter pub seems to me a good venue - Its free and would accommodate 30+

For me the internet is my childhood dreams come true and to be part of the computer age from the outset, we used slide rules and mechanical calculators when I started, is just so awesome, and to think we are just at the beginning of the internet age :-)
